Agreed. In order for the Z to be faster, you'd have to put it on a serious diet (expensive) or do mild FI from factory which means a lot more cost to the consumer. Factory FI complicates things greatly (R&D, manufacturing, emissions regulations, etc).

As far as how fast is it? The new Zs are pretty fast for a street car. Hard to find competition, stock for stock, generally equal base price, on the street that will match the performance of the Z. Stis and Evos will come close. If you want faster stock car, you need to spend a lot more.

I saw this sign once in an auto shop that said: "Speed costs money. How fast would you like to go?".

If you compare it to a no-torque S2000, then yes, but compared to an Audi, tis' not so heavy. If you wanted a 3100# car it would have to use F1 technology borrowed from the C6s, and the price would go up.
