I'm almost 24 and pay 1700/year for my insurance. I saved 12 grand to put down on my Z and only pay 301.00/month for my monthly payments. Since I don't have to pay rent where I live I can easily afford it.

We pay $900 every 6 months to have full coverage on my Z, our Mitsu Montero, and my beater Ford Probe. In my distant past, I have 2 wreckless driving tickets and a 90 day license suspension. Of couse I just turned 32, have been married for almost 7 years, and haven't even been so much as pulled over by the police since before I was married. We own all three cars outright, too, so the insurance doesn't bite quite so hard into our budget.

Don't forget about the "true cost of owning a Z" which includes things like premium gas, tires, brakes, mods, cleaning supplies, speeding tickets / radar detector, insurance.
Just a few things to put on your list. Try to stay well within your means on this car. If you get the Z, and can barely afford to drive it, it's not going to be any fun.

I am now 25, I had two points on my license before the start of this year (2004) when I was 24, under my own plan with NJ Manufacturers and full coverage on just my Z, I am paying....
$5000 / year
I hate NJ for this very reason, it is a very corrupt state and everyone takes their cut, If I could kill everyone who is involved I would in a second.
Oh yea, I can't wait until next year. I got a 5 point speeding ticket a few months ago so maybe my insurace will be like $7000/ year.

I'm 22, I work and go to schooll, I have to pay for both, I do not waste my money on movies, restaurants, or much entertainment.... I only go shopping twise a year. I rather chill with the Z guys and try not to spend so much or I chill with my girl at home.... sometimes I save more when I'm in school because I usually forget about the Z because I have so much stuff going on in school that I focus more on that.

My advice would be to hold off on the Z until you can at least pay for half of it up front. Dont let the car cost you so much that it sucks all the fun out of it....
I'm 24 paying 750/6months with USAA.

it's not that out of reach for a 20 year old... i'm 22 , i bought it used for 23095 6 months ago. financed the whole thing and my payments are 456 a month and insurance 400 a month for 10 months. you just have to get a job that you make atleast 500/week. on the other hand, i bring home just over 7 and sometimes i wish i diodn't have the payments.

I'm 21 years old and just recently purchased my Z a couple days ago. My insurance is through Farmers and I pay $2,408.00 a year, but that's with my "Good Student Discount." It's weird how insurance prices vary so much.

I'm 22 and have my own policy in addition to the Z car. The car is insured through USAA and my insurance premium is $380 for 6 months with $500 deductibles on both collision and comprehensive.
All I can say is to not get speeding tickets or wreck the car...
