Default what would you do with a chip in the windshield

It finally happened, a blankity blanking lawnmower trailer going the opposite direction put a 1/4' chip in the windshield.

No running line or cracks yet just a crevice.

Would you have them repair it or go ahead and risk having a new windshield installed.

Basically living with a slight flaw and not having to be so paranoid about the next chip or having a new windshield and being perfect once again.

Plus I would be $150 ahead with out having to pay the deductible.

What would you do?

Put some scotch tape over it immediately and find a good windshield repair biz--most of them will come out to your house or workplace and it takes very little time.

Don't worry about replacing the entire windshield unless you have to--it's a pain (I had a massive crack thanks to an 18 wheeler's tire blowing up and throwing all kinds of crap on my car).

Some insurance companies are paying for it especially for long time customers. You might want to find out before you pay out of your pocket.

in MA all insurance coverages whether your a 2 day experienced driver or a 20 year driver, they cover it in full right away.

make sure your insurance does this too, if so its for free.

I just had mine replaced too. My insurance would only cover if it could be fixed (which mine couldn't). I got a PPG replacement for $325. It's definitely holding up better because I also had some little rocks hit it yesterday while behind a friggin landscape truck. I was cringing when I heard them hit
