Quick fuel gauge question.
When the tank is COMPLETELY FULL is the needle supposed to be right at the "F"- line, or should it read above the the line and fall down to the line and below during consumption? Mine will always fill up right to the line, every time no matter how many gallons it takes. Is this normal operation?
mine fills a little above the line, say 1/16-1/8 of an inch seems to last a while then when it passes the full mark it drops quickly.... there fun but they suck gas like a fat girl downing a milk shake...
Steve, a lot of people have had problems with their tanks not taking a full tank because of the pump shutting off too soon. When I initially started having the problem I thought my gauge was messed up too, but then I eventually realized it wasn't the gauge. For me, if I don't put the nozzle all the way in I will get a complete fill. If I put the nozzle all the way in, the pump will shut off too soon. Maybe try that and see what happens. It should point a little over the F mark when completely full.

Something to take note of; the fuel gauge is not linear. We have 20 gal fuel tanks, and yet I have never been able to get more than 16 gal even when I run it with the warning light on and the gauge indicating empty, and the "DTE"indicating 10 mi or lower. So don't conclude the car is getting poor mileage. You need to pay attention to the "MPG" gauge.I consistantly get 23+ not bad for all this fun.
