trade in value - Mossy hooks it up? what if its lowered?
Ok so im all set to get my Z FINALLY. Im approved for the loan and all that except i gotta figure out what im gonna do with my current ride. Its a 99 accord only 13 k miles on it ( replaced the engine). Anyways blue books is around 9500 private sale. Any one have any experiences with trade in values? with mossy nissan in San diego? thing is that i have my h&r race springs in the car before and i realy dont want to shell out the buck 20 just to put the stock springs back in... think i will get docked much for having it lowered? for some reason i was under the impression that dealerships dont look much at the trade in.. ?

best bet is to sell it on your own. $tealer will give you at best KBB wholesale cost (trade in value) condition good. I suggest you take off the lowered springs and sell the car as stock as possible because a potential buyer, unless he's looking for a tricked out ride, wants a car that seems totally clean and unraced.

Definitley don't do a trade in. When I was getting rid of my '91 Honda Prelude, the dealership wanted to give me $500.00. I sold it privately for $1800.00, almost 4x more. I recommend Autotrader.

Definitely sell outright to a private owner and use that as a down. Mossy is an excellent dealership (I bought my Z at Mossy in Oceanside) and got a great non-haggle non a**hole salesman deal. I think even Mossy would make you bend over on a trade-in though. I had cash down from my totalled 300zx which is for sure more than any dealer would have given me. It wouldn't hurt to call and ask. I had all the numbers from my sales guy over the phone before I drove 120 miles to even look at the car. Thing is, if they don't see you in person, chances are they wont remember what they quoted you over the phone. Just remember if you get a good quote to get the sales guy's name, and talk to him specifically when you go buy. Good luck. Be sure to ask to check out the special hidden "extras" you can get with the car. They even had a sunroof option! No other Nissan dealership even offered them.

BTW, there are no "hidden" options on a Z. Sunroof is after market.
