Default Integra Type R or 350Z

Hi people,

I need some advice,

Have been driving a Integra Type R (In your region, Acura type- R)for pass 2 years, when I first set my eyes on a 350Z I fell in love...

I'm really confused if I should sell my beloved DC 5 type R,
and get a Z...

after reading your nice forum, there seems to be lotsa complians with the Z, my Q is it is worth it?

I'm writing from Singapore and the prices of cars here is no joke.
a JDM Z( Base model) cost like 80 grand USD, and a the local Nissan agent(ST version) sells it for 90 grand USD!

Here are some points,

3.5 Vs 2L
road cost 2.5 K (Z) vs 0.8K (Type R) in USD
Seating 2 vs 2+2.
1.5 ton Vs 1.1 ton weight. ( BTW, my Type R has 260 Hp, full Mugen upgrade, but 2 years old)
Insurance cost 2.3K both.
FR Vs FF
V6 Vs Vtech
Nissan Vs Honda
Stock Vs Full Mod.

Can anyone help!

Cheers!

the type R has a fair amount of power... 220 is it? or 240. super light too. but true, no low end torque.

you say the Z is 90k, how much is the ITR? Im assuming thats not 30k like it would be here either. or is nissan just expensive.

handling vs acceleration. only you can decide that.

He has a JDM DC5 Type-R. My friend's shop had one here in Cali before it was sold to a customer. That car is different from an RSX Type-S, the Type-S is a relative pig compared to the Type-R. Considering the cost of the Z, I would keep the Type-R...i think it's an excellent car to drive.

I'm not sure, but the tax in Singapore is a joke. More than 50% of that ridiculous price tags are simply because of tax. The cheapest car you can buy in Singapore is around $25000 I heard.

Our cab driver in singapore (1 night layover on our honeymoon) had a new accord for work which he had to buy i guess...he said it was $60k for it...pretty similar in all of asia. Probably explains why all the asian foreign students at USC (i work there) drive in bimmers and benzes...there is a black SL55 in the compact spaces of our parking structure (apparently he doesn't care very much, he looks 19 and kind of dorky)...to their parents, $125k for a benz is cheap.

Yea, it's true, tax here is about 200% I think,
for 25K you can get a 600cc supermini malaysian or Korean made car.

Life is tuff out here.

ITR can be are is fast. No low end power but hellova high end power. I know this guy with a rsx-r engine in a type s and it huals ***. Breaks traction easily in 1st and 2nd gear. Not to mention a few mod for the rsx and it can pull low 14s just like us.

the integra has no personality...the 350Z has a soul...

There is no comparison between the two.

If you can afford it, buy the Z and join the family! Otherwise, the type-R is still pretty good too. I've driven one before and, to my surprise, it actually hauls.

Can't believe anyone has mentioned the FWD vs. RWD aspect.

Friends don't let friends drive FWD. Just like friends don't let friends drive automatics. These things matter.

i'm going to have to disagree with your automatic comment. 5AT is just as good as the 6MT IMO.

I'm also one of "Asian Foreign Students" but I don't drive Mercedes...
Heck, but you are right. I have a friend who goes to USC and he drives 2004 Mercedes E500. USC=University of Spoiled Children eh? j/k
Well, import cars are expensive in Asia, but the case in Singapore is just the extreme. SL55 AMG in Korea is about $180k, about 50% more than it's original price. It still sux, but not that bad like Singapore.

if you're driving a 4-banger, there's not much point in rwd, especially the low torque rsx.
