Default Anyone trust your dealer service

dept to do a simple thing like an oil change????

How many here let the dealer do your oil change or you just do it yourself????

My 350 will be coming up on its first oil change and after seeing some of the "behaviour" of various individuals in the service dept im haveing second thougts on letting them touch the Z. They just dont seem like a bright bunch of bulbs. Visions of cross threaded oil drain plugs.....

I have yet to take my car to a dealer for an oil change. Something as easy as an oil change I figure I can do myself...plus it's kind of therapeutic and I don't mind doing it (like others with zaino'ing their cars).

I hear some dealers refuse to work on modded cars but I don't have any info to provide here, so watch out if you have some after market upgrades.

If you have the means to do so, I suggest just changing the oil yourself...for me it's peace of mind in knowing that it is done right...who know's what your getting from the dealer/jiffy lube. I've heard of stories involving changing oil/not changing filter and not tightening filter so it practically falls off.

/I don't let anyone touch my baby unless I can't do it myself...then I supervise!

i trust my dealerships service department. they have taken very good care of my car for everything, including oil changes, feathering (replaced tires and did alighnment way before the tsb was put out), replaced my tranny for 3rd gear grind, fixed my grease streaks.

they have done a great job with everything.
it makes me wonder if all the horror stories just make nissan service worse than it really is since the good stories never really get told.

I have a local shop that I have taken our cars to for years do routine, scheduled maintenance. For more major or warrenty issues, such as feathering, I go to the local Nissan dealer; a total of one trip so far. I started by talking to the service manager and letting him I would appreciate his keeping tabs on the car. He did a good job.

Communicate & build rapport.
