Default smashed curb bad

Guy in a done up civic takes a right corner way too fast and I am going the other way (past him)...bottom line is, it was a head on collission or me taking the curb. I hit the curb fairly hard. No body damage what so ever, both passanger wheels have curb rash about 1/3 around the lip, tires are fine (dont even looked touched) But my rear wheel is noticably kicked in on the bottom (all I can see from a peak under is a bent front lower link..but who knows what else is out). In the front, the wheel looks OK camber wise, but is pushed back a bit towards the rear of the car. As a rough estimate what am I looking at dollar wise to fix this? I would like to know before I take it in to decide if I should make a claim or not...the car needs to be towed, but it is parked safely in a parking lot for the night.

my advice is to always hit the other person if they're going to be at fault and it looks like you may dmg urself badly. and if he really was driving like you say...you should have called the police.

Well, great to say, but I was not going too slow either and a head on collision could have been fatal, so I cant really agree on you there. Yes, I maybe should have called to cops, but that would mean reporting the accident and I'm not sure I can afford that. See, in Ontario these days, two accidents in a few years and and your policy can be cancelled...yes, it has gotten that bad...also, if is going to cost about $3,000 to fix (I actually have no idea how much it will be), my deductable is $1,000. My rates will for sure go up 1000-2000 a year if I report this so I'm better off paying it myself.

The same EXACT thing happened to me, except i didnt **** my wheels that bad. I have about 3 inches of rash on the front right wheel because i had to get out of the way of this riced honda because he was trying to impress me. If there wasnt traffic and i had room to turn around, i would have chased him down.

I smashed into a curb pretty badly awhile ago and other than me wanting to replace the scratched rims it didn't cost too much. For me it was somewhere under $400 to get an alignment and replace a rod. I even scratched up my paint...

Yah, but my suspension is visably out of whack. I have a feeling its going to be very expensive. I went on the Audi board and it looks like my type of damage is worth $3000 and up on an A4...I hope nissan parts are much cheaper.

I did something like that with my Honda Prelude on the track, it cost me around $2000 CDN to repair. My rear axle was busted, as well as the rear frame support.

Good luck...

Bobbyz, I can feel your pain. When my wife backed into my Z in the driveway I really had to weigh the option of calling the insurance to file a claim. Well I paid OOP and figured that was cheaper then my $500 ded. on BOTH cars and the rate hikes that would occur for the next 3-5 years. My opinion is to do it yourself. Use this as a good excuse to get some goodies. If you have to replace something anyway then that helps to offset the toys. Either way, good luck.

I had a close call the other day. I was going to work which requires you go up on a pretty steep road. When I reached the top of the hill, this high-school idiot in a riced out early 90's accord comes flying down the hill, runs a red light, (which was also at a corner) and nearly hits my car doing his little fast and furious stunt as he took the corner in the neighborhood at around at least 30 mph. I wanted to hunt down that punk so bad. Sorry to hear about your accident

Nominee,
Happened in an industrial park near Sheppard and Keel.
With your prelude, was the $2,000 just to fix the back???
I think my front damage is worse then the back. I figure refinish two wheels for about $300, so that is the least of my worries. I'm hoping the rear is just the rod that controls camber. The front I know the control arm is gone because of how the wheel is sitting. DAMN pisses me off just thinking about it. Honda Just sped off and I could not chase. By the time I realized what happened and knew I was fine, but the car was not, he was too far for a license ID. Look out for a baby blue civic hatch with a funny looking rear spoiler.

Bobbyz,

Yah, that was just to fix the back, not including buying a new Enkei rim. Since it is a single car accident (the civic is gone), according to the insurance company, you will most likely be at fault. Thus, it will be considered a claim against you. I would suggest taking it to a reputable shop, and get an estimate, police don't have to be involved for that. Then you'll just have to weigh the factors of claiming it or not. If it's gonna cost you over $3000, I would suggest claiming it. What insurance company are you with?

Allan at Kennedy HiFi has a 350z setup with JIC. His shop really isn't setup to tune suspensions, but as far as installation goes, it's pretty simple.

dang i would've just got into the head on collision. cause it wouldn't be your fault, your insurance premium wouldn't go up... AND you took a risk of (in the worst case scenario) having frame damage on your car, suspension damage (which you already stated right?) or being flipped over.

but dang... good luck. i wouldve nailed that guy for reckless driving or something. ahah get new rims!

Yeah..so that in the event its a fatal accident, you can kick yourself in the nuts in heaven (or hell) and wish that you didn't take the curb instead. Anyways, you made the smart move by takin' the curb. You are lucky, 'cause it could have been a lot worse!

A smart driver would not take a head on crash, and he didnt...
Thats a stupid thing to say, a life of misery and body achs and pains vs a few thousand in fixes... come on, what if it turned out to be fatal? what if the other person died? what he did was right, maybe bad for his bank account but I assure you even in a wrongfull crash you'll pay those doctors bills to the point of no bank account, no job and no money for meds.

Funny thing is that I tried so hard to avoid him, but if the car was driveable, I would have chased him and punted him off the road. Anyway, I'm going now to talk to a Z specialist that I know to see if he has a bay open for me. I'll keep you posted on damage and cost.
P.S. Right front brake is not working so here is to hoping that brake is fine, but just shifted or a line was pulled or something...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
