I made it out last night, it was a lot of fun! It was nice to be able to see all the colors together (except for the PPW). Made me switch my color choice to Silverstone with Orange Interior. They had one last night and it was the best looking car on the floor!

I was going to order but they said wait would be till January/February. Who wants to drive that car in the snow here in NY. My search continues to find my Z...as soon as possible.

I found a Black and Black for November, but after mulling over that color and seeing it last night, decided not to go for it.

Default Smithtown gathering

Last night a group of us gathered at Smithtown Nissan and showed our cars to "a group of lucky folks"
I say lucky folks because they were able to see the cars and in many cases get into them in ways that I only imagined of doing during the long 9 month wait. This is one of the big mistakes Nissan NA made during the pre-order process. We should have had greater access to the cars.
I throughly enjoyed myself while talkng about and showing off my "Black Beauty"
I know that those people I came into contact with were very appreciative.
It would be very easy to forget the tough times and the often unbearable wait I had now that my car is here.
Share your joy with those still waiting or who are contemplating buying the car. The smiles on their faces is well worth the effort.
I spoke to one couple that was in the process of ordering a Z. I asked if the the young lady had a heavy foot. Here partner said a very heavy foot. I suggested that she make friends with the local cops in that case.
Little did I know that both of them were Suffolk County police officers. We had a good laugh over the situation. I told them if they saw my car to remember the nice conversation we had and look they other way if I was being "bad".

Talking

Hey everyone. I've been a member since the forum was back on the old site, but never had a reason to post (I don't yet own a Z, and people around here seem to say what I'm thinking anyway...), but I think now's a good time to start.

To all who were gracious enough to bring their Z's to Z-night: much thanks. It was indeed a pleasure to see the car in all colors but PPW and the elusive eggplant (does ANYONE on the island actually own this color?). I won't be ready to get my Z until about 6-12 months from now. But it was nice to see the car up close and actually sit in one.

archduke: thanks for answering all of the questions my family and I had. Your car truly IS a beauty. My family has owned blk / dk blue cars for as long as I can remember, so I totally understand how tough it is to keep your car looking as good as it does! Seeing your car reinforces my plan to have MY OWN black Z!

dan: thanks for putting this event together. You'll be hearing from me when I'm ready to commit. I'll be interested in working out some tuning options with you as well.

To all those who didn't make it: you guys missed out!

Just my 2cents...

Take care, everyone!

iZu, you should give Dan a call. They have a Brickyard in right now. My wife and I went to see it last night. It is sweet! Hurry before the person picks it up! Dan is out on Tuesdays, but should be in tomorrow (Wednesday).

It was great to see Dan, Rich and Lynne again, and to meet some new folks like Jon and Steve.

You're welcome, Fred. We got there at about 5:30 pm, so the sun was already going down, but where it hit the car the paint came alive. It looks red/purple/black, like a Merlot wine. It's hard to describe. It has a metallic fleck in it. If you've ever seen the eggplant on the Corvette, where it looks black one minute and purple the next, and the Porsche Orient Red Metallic, it's sort of a combination of these colors. Darker than the Porsche color, lighter and more red than the Corvette color. And more metallic than both. Actually, the 50th Anniversary Corvette color probably comes closest to the Brickyard, except that the Brickyard is metallic. Other people have described it as black cherry, which is a pretty good description, too.

Anyway, that's about the best I can do to explain it. You really do have to see it in person.

Sorry I didn't meet you on Sunday. You don't happen to go to Polytech in Brooklyn by any chance, do you?

Great description of the color, Ted! I think I know what you are talking about. My current car is a blue pearl color, which ranges in appearance from a very metallic royal blue in direct sunlight, to a dark navy color in the shade and on rainy days. I suspect this is the same effect going on in the eggplant color. And I have an idea of the "black cherry" color you're talking about. As you said, I just have to see one to get the full effect.

Secondly: sorry. not a student at Brooklyn Polytech. student at the Brooklyn Hospital in lovely(?.....it's getting better) downtown Brooklyn.
