you are probably passed this, but there is a wire going into the ECU that carries this information in a pulse format. i will let you know which it is, when I get the ECU diagram tomorrow.

Ok, I found it!!!!!!!

Looks like we have to tap into the "unified meter and a/c amp"

This is a white wire and its the speed sensor reading. Its a 8-pulse on the Z.

SKiDaZZLe, fyi, you can not tap into a pulse wire at the ecu because one does not exist. The z uses a central information transmission system where the data is encrypted and sent to various areas on the car. If you look at the wiring diagram for the ECU you will NOT see a Speed terminal.

or you can tap into #20 on the combination meter (gauge cluster). this is the other side of that connector

i have the service manual too

you are right, the unified meter and a/c amp is easier to get to, as it is the white box behind the A/C controls... if you are installing something near the center console.

michael

ps, the wire (#26) is white

Do you mean "encoded"?

If not, please explain more...

nizl, I supposed encoded is a better word. .

VQracer, true! I didnt know how to get to the gauge cluster.. It looked complicated.

This is for a Apexi RSM w/accellerometer install.

Brain works better working in tens rather than 4,8,12......

For some reason, the pioneer system is also more likely to put you incorrectly on a road (if yo9u are off road) without the speed pulse generator wired in.
