Put the car in 2nd gear. Rev it to 4500 and pop the clutch! Nice smoky burnout. 1st is too short to get the tire smokin.

ok i know how to do a burnout, its pretty simple.

my problem is that everytime i let em slip i hear thudding noises and it sounds like something is going to brake.

is that because i have stock tires?

the thudding is probably your limited slip diff., if you have one. its trying to compensate for the slippage and transfer power to the other wheel. for some reason its hard to get it to lock up and constantly spin both wheels, especially with stickier aftermarket tires.

raider, it would be nice if we could read a post without having to see a full page of signature over and over again!

1. Turn off VDC
2. Rev to about 4krpm
3. Drop the clutch, youll feel your tires spinning
4. When you feel the car starting to move forward, hit the brakes about 50% so the car stops moving, dont slam on them
5. Slowly give it more gas and at the same time slowly let up on the brakes
6. look in your rear view mirror and enjoy the clouds you made.

The best way to smoke the tires is if you have crappy tires. That said, pour two puddles of bleach on the street. Pull the car forward so that the tires are in the beach. Burn out. Nice white smoke.

What you may be experiencing is wheel hop.

Yeah I have experienced the same "thud" phenomenon and figured it was wheel hop (the tires slipping/sticking/slipping/etc.), but that typically happens when I wuss out and don't give it enough gas. I am thinking that if I would just man-up and stomp on the gas the tires would spin as desired.

is this the right way to burn out for drag? i got stock tires and going to drag possibly this week. also for number 3, do i slam on the gas or just keep it at 4k rpm while i drop the clutch
