Default Dealer locked keys in car, won't do **** about it

Well this is great. I took the Z in for the rear-axle click and to have the clunk in the front suspension inspected. I wasn't able to pickup the car during work hours, so the service manager told me he would leave my passenger door unlocked and leave the keys under the floor mat and park the Z in the back of the lot. Well, I get there ~10pm and my car is LOCKED completely. I find the security guard and he says "well I reckon I locked it cuz I'm also supposta lock da cars at nite so I locked it, didn't wanna get it stolen." Well, I went home pissed off last night, but I went to a party, got drunk and won some cash at Texas holdem so I was in a better mood. Well today I woke up to call the Nissan service manager to talk about it, but they are CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY. WTF should I do?!?

That sucks, really, but I don't think you can do too much about it, unless you can break in yourself or call a lock smith--then forward the bill to Nissan?

Call up a lock smith and when they unlock it for you, show them your ID and registration so they know it's yours. Also make the dealer pay for the bill. If not, take them to court.

Is it easy for a locksmith to crack into the Z?

I would think that a reputable locksmith would have a hard time meeting somebody at a car dealership for the purpose of opening a car for that person to drive off with. How does he know that you don't owe the dealership a bunch of money and they're holding your car until you pay the bill? Get the idea...

The safe thing is to wait until Monday.

BTW, where are your spare keys? My Z came with three.

This leads me to ask a question: I've "mysteriously" locked my keys in my car twice, without actually LOCKING the doors. Don't know if anyone else has experienced that... keys were on the front seat, both doors were unlocked. Driver's door swung shut while I was detailing it, and about a minute later, I found both doors locked. Do the Z's have a passive locking mechanism I'm not aware of? (And no, I make it a point never to leave my keys on the front seat anymore) LOL

But heck, I'd just get the locksmith to open it. I can't stand being away from my Z more than I have to. It'll probably run you about $45-50, and they'll have it open in under 30 seconds.

I think locksmiths can open any automotive doors. My dad called one up to open up his 7series. It's pretty cool how to break into it... kinda worries me though, it took less than two minutes. What happens if he went evil and decided to start jacking cars.

Yes, the doors automatically lock themselves after a while. That's why when I set my keys in the trunk, a few seconds later I realize what could happen and I take them out right away. I'm out of town right now for school, so my other keys are over 2 hours away. I can't afford to lock myself out, haha.

I don't know if I should be posting this, but what I did was got my spare key, wrapped it in duct tape really well (air tight), then I zip tied it an accessable, but out of the way area on my car. This way, in case of emergencies, I've always got a key(came in handy a couple of times). I used black duct tape, so it wouldn't be noticable at all. Plus, where i've got it hidden, you wouldn't be able to notice it anyway unless you were on all fours.

PS, don't care if thieves are reading this, because it would be more of a hassle for them to find the key then to jimmy the door.

A locksmith will be able to open it in minutes but I doubt that the dealer will pay him to do it.
