Nissan's response to alignment issues letter and reimbursements
I don't know how many people received the letter from Nissan Consumer affairs in response to the tire issue, but I turned mine around immediately with all of my receipts for the new tires that I put on at 10,000 miles, requesting that they reimburse me $444.19 for the fronts and their installment costs. On Thursday I got a call from Louis at NCA and he informed me that Nissan was cutting me a check for that amount and that I should be receiving it this upcoming week. I can't complain, seeing as how the real reason I had to replace my tires was that I got a big nail in one of my rears, and when I took it in for repair, the guy said that they wouldn't repair a tire that was that worn, so I replaced them all with S-03's, seeing as how I didn't like the RE040's anyway. But they shouldn't have been that worn at 10K...and in reality, my fronts are in pretty good shape still, as I saved them just in case. They probably have 3K left in them, and they aren't worn unevenly at all. But I did get a free alignment from my dealer as well, so I think Nissan is making an attempt to resolve the issue in good faith. Although I did scan the posting about alignment issues, and maybe there is more to this issue than a simple alignment. I'm hoping not, since it wasn't an issue with my car before. Mine's serial is 105094, if that matters to those who may fall in near that manufacture date or far from it.

You posted that you scammed Nissan out of over $400 and provided your VIN number so they can easily track you down.
Brilliant...
And people ask why Nissan hasn't done anything sooner. As soon as they admit there is a problem, people start feeding at the trough.
Thanks for your contribution to the integrety of the Z community.

I am so sick of all you schmucks who try to twist up my words and then jump on the bandwagon and try to bring your righteous indignation to bear down on me with. I don't care if they have my VIN-I haven't ripped them off. I am done bothering to ever post another thing on this forum, filled with self-aggrandizing boors, half-wits, and showboaters. It's obvious what your problem is-cranial insertion into rectal cavity.
From hornet59's comment that my car had no issues, when it obviously did, on through Dr. Bonz, where you imply criminal activity-All a bunch of BS twisted from something where I was saying that Nissan was obviously making a good faith effort to correct a problem. Like I said, I now know better than to try to make pigs fly-It's wasting my time and annoying the pigs.

Nissan replaces feathered SO3's NOT SO4's and NOT tires with nails stuck in them.
In effect, they paid for your SO4's. That isn't what they are proposing and you knew it and capitalized on it.
I never mailed anything in. I didn't even bring the letter in. The dealer already knew about it when I brought the car in for the new tires.
Of course, I'm getting new SO4's and you, I assume are trying to get reimbursed for getting you aftermarket tires right?
BTW, I mis-typed in my post above. I meant to say that Nissan replaces feathered SO4's and not SO3's with nails in them. I got the numbers backwards. Sorry.

are S-04s the "replacement" for RE40s? Or is it a brand new tire altogether?
Yes, I'm looking into getting reimbursed for my S-03s. The dealership will not do the warranty work because I have aftermarket wheels. Nevermind the fact that I bought my aftermarket tires [U]before[/B] I swapped the wheels or tires.
Wondering if I take the direct route with Nissan if I can at least get reimbursed for my fronts. Anyone know where I can find a copy of the letter red/blue referred to in the original post or the correct number to call Nissan and discuss this by phone?

At least this guy is not as much of dirt bag as the guy in Texas filing a class action lawsuit against Nissan for $72,000 per plantiff for the tire feathering issue (see current Autoweek).
If this gets any steam and wins, you'll know why Nissan does not have the R&D cash for a factory TT. Please don't follow the gimme gimme gimme crowd and get in on this. Just get your new tires and alignment from Nissan for free like the rest of us.
These people are the reason our legal system is screwed up.
BTW, I got my new tires from the dealer. Because it needed them at 13,000 not because of a puncture.
I also talked to a Bridgestone Rep. at the Chicago auto show and he said they working with Nissan to fix the problem so the $400 plus cost is not just coming from one entitiy.

I tried to go through the dealer... they won't touch my wheels because now I have aftermarket wheels and it doesn't cover aftermarket wheels. At the time the problem was first noted, I was still on RE40s. I replaced them with S-03s and new wheels to get rid of the problem and have a wheel upgrade in one move.
Of course, the problem has reappeared with my new wheels because it was never fixed from the original RE40 problem (since the TSB was not out at that time)
I'd be willing to let them replace my now feathered S-03s with more S-03s, but the dealership won't do that either. So, at this point, I'm more than willing to take it up directly with Nissan to see if they'll comp me some front rubber to replace what I have. Hell, if they want to just pay me the cost of some front RE40s and let me pay the difference to upgrade to S-03s, I'd do that.
But I need to know who I have to take it up with.

With that said.....
What Red/Blue did was completely unethical and he should be spanked by his Mommie!
Hmmmm... Red, blue..... Might start looking out the window for those colors flashing really soon.

good job bro, way to take advantage of Nissan. Nissan deserve it cause they are screwing us over with fualty cars in the first place. I have a feeling that even now, they havnt figured out what exactly is causing the feathering. These big a$$ car companies make enough money hustling the $hit out of us already. Charging me hundreds of dollars for a freakin aluminum kick plate. How much does it cost them to build a 350z neways? with this cheap a$$ paint and windshield and interior and sell it to us for so much money. Its still a great car, but I wish for all this money we fork, while making them all fat and rich, Id expect better.
Im glad at least Nissan is doing something about the tire feathering problem even though they dont have a solution yet. Its a lot better than that shady crap Mitsubishi is pullin. But the fact of the matter is, Nissan still screwed us over, they hustled us by selling a defective product, so I dont see nothing wrong with you doing some hustling of your own.
If Nissan dont want to get taken advantage of and loose all this money, maybe they should have spent some more time and money testing their cars before it was released. If some people wants to be saints, and they love Nissan so much, then let them and more power to them. If I have a chance to get free stuff, I'd go for it too even if I dont deserve it. I definetly feel you on what you did, so once again, GOOD JOB bro.
(posting and boasting about it is not smart though, better start hoping people wont snitch on you)

I agree with the lawsuit, hopefully Nissan will own up to the issue and get this fixed. I had my stock tires replaced and "alignment fixed" thinking I was ok with new wheels/tires but now my very expensive Toyo T1-S front tires are shot. Same issue, same feathering tread wear, obviously not the tire or wheels fault. If you drive this car as a daily driver, you could spend a lot of money replacing your front tires because of this issue and frankly the uneven tread wear could cause tire failure resulting in a pretty ugly lawsuit for Nissan if someone gets seriously injured. Anyone remember the Ford Explorer/Firestone issue??? I don't think Nissan wants it to go that far. Its only a matter of time until someone who is less aware of the these issues has enough miles on their car for a blowout to occur.
