Bottom Clearance and bumpy roads
I am strongly considering putting down some cash to reserve a new 350Z (dealer said it would be in around April). This is the first car i have been exicited about in years.. the Z would be my everyday driving car.
Here is the problem, i live in Charleston South Carolina, old city from colonial days and basically the roads are pretty poor (cobblestone in places, lumpy due to occasional flooding, some minor potholes) in a good portion of the city and outlaying areas, alot are not too bad but downtown needs work.. i am not too concerned about the ride being "bumpy" but i don't want to have to get my alignment redone every month or so due to excessively bumpy roads? And i'd rather not have to crawl along the rougher portions (even though i'd look damn good doing so). I'd like some feedback from some of you more knowledgable folks out there as to the potential damage this could cause to alignment and hence the tires from being off center.
My Second question deals with ground clearance, i work in an area that forces me to park in a parking deck a fair bit.. i notice that the ground is scrapped by other cars bottoming out, i wonder given that the nose on the Z is not very long (like a Corvett) do y'all think it would be likely to scrape the ground when descending the ramps of the deck, i realize you cannot answer this w/o knowing the grade of the ramp, but want to see if others have had any issues w/ this.. my driveway also has a bit of a gutter in the front so you have about a 4-6 inch bump you gotta drive over to get in and out, i thought about having the dealer drive over w/ me and see if i can safely get in and out of the driveway..
Ok last question, as i said the city can flood at times (heavy rain + high tide = a few inches of standing water and big puddles in spots) I used to have an RX7 years ago in Florida and after going through a few inches of standing water once I swear the car never drove the same, have things come along way since then (was mid 1980's RX7)?
Thanks for any imput, i really love the 350 but don't want to get one if driving around in these conditions will end up shreading the car, she's too pretty to be put through hell.
Thanks for your time.
