Congrats to Performance Nissan for placing 1st & 3rd at Mid-Ohio
I went to Mid-Ohio on Sunday for the first time & saw an amazing race. Performance Nissan's #13 Z took first place while the #33 Z took 3rd. It was a great race with a lot of lead changes. #33 had the lead for a while, but #13 took it home.
The race was originally scheduled for 111 laps, but due the large field (62 cars) they had to use the 3 hour time limit. The #13 car had about a 12 second lead ahead of the Mustang Cobra when a Porsche Boxter spun out in front of us (we were hanging out at Thunder Valley at that point). Due to the caution flag, the Mustang was able to catch back up but was never able to overtake the Z for the final few laps. Damn those Z's sound wicked at the track.
There were a few good spin outs & crashes. We were hanging out at the "esses" at the beginning of the race and saw a Mustang flip over on the first lap.
Sorry I didn't take any digital pictures, only 35 mm. For those of you that went & have digital pix, please post them.
Again, congrats to Performance Nissan!!!

Another good vantage point at Mid-Ohio is right next to Madness. From there you get to see everybody try to outbrake each other at the end of the backstraight, and then battle each other in the next set of turns.
Anyways, that aside, big congrats to the #13 car! Finally, a 1st place win! Hopefully I'll be able to see the 350Zs on the podium at VIR in October...

Any idea when that race will be on speed channel. I try to not lookup who the winners were till i watch it. but the title gave it away
. But i still look forward to seeing it. I have been pulling for them all season.

Midway through the race the #13 car had half of his rear bumper hanging off. The next lap around it was duct taped back to the car.
I also have to give a shout out to the #33 car. He was at the front of the pack all race long & was even leading for a good portion of it. I think he had to pit & lost some ground, but passed a lot of cars at the end of the race to get third place. If he would have had another 5-10 laps, he may have taken the lead.
The 350evo cars were bada$$ as well. Even though they didn't take it home, they helf their own. The cars looked & sounded great.
It was a great race! We were out of fuel on the 13 car to the point it was starting to sputter on the last lap. If it wasn't for the yellow flag a few laps before, the car would have never made it to the finish!!! I guess that's racing. Here's a couple pix I lifted from the GrandAm website of us and BJ (downshift)...
Wow Jeff. I was cursing when the last yellow came out because Kelly lost all his 9 sec. lead. I guess it was a blessing in disguise! Kelly drove a superb race. He raced with us a few times when I crewed for the Genesis Motorsports BMW M3. He is a cool guy. Z's should be very strong at VIR & Barber in Oct.!

my camp will love it!
Great win for the 350Z. Boy that was some sorry coverage by SPEED. They show more yellow flag action than actual racing time. They spent way to much time showing the Cobra upside down on lap 1. SPEED needs to get a clue. If it ain't NASCAR they cram the action into a 1 hr. time slot. Oh well congrats to the Performance team!
First congrats to Performance Nissan. And second what the hell did speed do to the coverage. They chopped the race up some much I didnt even see how the cadi lost 1st place and how the number 13 Performance Nissan moved into first.
