HUGE-ASS BRICKS -- 1, droid -- 0

Droid, that's horrible! A shame it had to happen to you, you've posted so many awesome pics of your car. My girlfriend drove down here last night so she knows all about that rainstorm, but lucky for her she didn't run her Z3 into a minefield of bricks like you did...I hope you get satisfaction whatever course you choose here.

Droid,
That really sucks dude... I feel your pain. I'm just glad those bricks didn't get airborn and make contact with the body of the car/windshield. That would be the unspeakable for sure. Hopefully the wheel can be repaired or around $100.
On a lighter note I freaked a week ago when driving my Z and noticed the white object in the road (last minute). I couldn't avoid running over top of it. It was a plastic bag... I looked in my rearview to see if it exited (it did not). I pulled over as soon as I could only to see the bag underneath my car melting on the exhaust... I managed to pull half of it out before it did the meltdown... When my car gets warmed up it still kinda smells like burned platic bag... Not half as bad as what you're going thru.. I got lucky. It could have been something that my Z couldn't clear then I'd be posting pics of a busted front end.... Glad that didn't happen... Good luck getting that wheel repaired.

Just a 2nd opinion
Droid:
It's a total shame that something like that should happen to anyone, least of all a Z fanatic like yourself. With no damage to any body panels, nor the suspension geometry, you're already much better off than it could have been.
I would hazard against trying to get the rim "fixed" and put back on. By now, the rim is WAY out of round and balance, and any attempts to fix it will be close but not exactly like new. Moreover, the process of fixing it is undoubtedly going to cause some untoward stress on the rim as they try to bend it back into shape. This has the potential to weaken the strength of the rim in the long run. And in the end, wheels and tires are probably not something you want in a questionable state...
Best of luck, and I hope this incident becomes nothing more than a distant memory. Do the right thing, and get your baby on the road again!

Hey gmoneyr1 that happened to me once when I first got my Eclipse. I saw a white object in the road and ran it over because I was in a two lane two way traffic road and I couldn't get out of the way. Before I ran it over I noticed it was only a bag, a week later I found the damn bag melted to my exhaust heh.

Hey Brad,
Sorry to hear the news after we met for the first time last week. I feel your pain. Had a "glob" of what I do not know stir up from under a car on 360 by DFW that hit my front right fender. A crashing "thud" ensued. I could not bear to look until I got home. Lucky for me only slight scuff that will buff out.
It is a freaking war zone up here in Frisco. Did you see all the gravel at 121 and the Parkway this week? With so much construction going on, I feel like the damage is inevitable I hate to feel this way but it keeps me sane

Man that totally f****** sucks! I had a similar spill back in the day in one of my Mustangs, and the Police called it "Hazard of Driving!" If I could have caught up to the dumb sh** who dropped not 1 but 2 ladders in the road which caused multiple car damages including mines, I would have given that his a** "Hazards of getting your A** beat!"
Good luck Brad.........
Good luck Brad.........

freaking bastards- sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Perhaps you can buy an 18 inch rim from somebody here- it seems that everyone is switching to aftermarket rims- you should be able to pick up a slightly used OEM wheel for not too much dough. Anyone looking to sell their OEM 18s? I think this would be your best bet & you can always just use your spare tire in the meantime...

I know what the answer is...God punished your *** for that evil/sin/666 crap on your little post thing. Take that thing off - maybe your vibes will improve. Just trying to offer some assistance.

Psalms 2:54
And the Lord sayeth verily, "Thou that useth the number of the beast for thine avatar shall feel my righteous wrath upon thine rims, for I shall strike thy accursed 350 Z wheels with stone upon stone and cause much breakage and wailing and tearing of thine hair out by thy roots."
:P
Not to mention suffering a lot of BRICKyard jokes.

DANM That SUCKS!
Brad,
Man I feel your pain... I'm so worried about road hazards that evertime a rock flies up and I see it coming I ALMOST automatically swerve into the other lane by reaction.... I can't believe those painted rims are that high... I'd really be working on the wife to upgrade!
Good luck!
By the way .. how was the Sunday meeting at Bone Daddy's.. I was in S.A.
Hope to meet everyone in the near future!

FIX EM!!
Droid-
On New Years Day 1997, it was icy out and my 1991 300ZX slid as I made a left hand turn from a stop light. I overcorrected for the slide too much, slid left and slammed into the little median curb/island thing with both my left side tires. I bent my rims up/cracked em really bad (they were aftermarket), and my tires instantly lost pressure and went flat. All I could do was hobble my car to the right to park in an apartment complex and survey the damage. Needless to say, I too thought I would have to get a new set of rims (since I couldnt find them anywhere). However, a guy at a tire store told me to call Ye Old Wheel Shop in Elkridge, Maryland (I lived in Maryland at the time). It is run by a guy named Daniel Yi, and my rims were as good as new two days later. I think he charges between $90-125 rim, depending on damage. I still have their brochure, which includes a really good writeup from the May 1993 issue of Car Craft Magazine. If they didnt fix mine perfectly, I wouldn't recommend him, but I promise you he did one hell of a job. If you have a fax number, I can fax you a copy of the brochure. You would have to pay shipping, but you would still save hundreds of dollars to get your wheel good as new.
Their numbers are:
(410) 796-8400 or 1-800-526-8260
Fax: 410-796-8410
Good luck to you and anyone else who might need this done. The guy had wheels in his shop from all over the US when I went in to pick mine up, so he and the shop are pretty well known and trusted.

Just trying to put two & two together. You figure it out. But at least someone was amused.

Hey droid,
Here is the process of a local shop near me. http://www.rimandwheelworks.com/wheel_str_process.htm It is amazing how bad a rim could look and still be fixed. Though if this is a way to get the wife to ok a set of aftermarket rims then I don't think you would want to fix it.
