Default Hard start...

Yesterday I had a difficult time starting my car when I left work. Normally it starts right up, but for some reason I had to crank it over 3 times (about 4 seconds each) before it started. After I got home, I restarted it twice with no problems.

I suppose it could be gas related, but I have not bought any gas for over 2 weeks. The engine was cold and outside temperature was about 70 degrees.

My only drivetrain mod is a K&N filter. I did not reset the ECU when I installed the filter about a year ago. I've never heard of anyone resetting their ECU for a K&N filter. The car is starting fine and I don't know if it is my imagination, but the car seems to run smoother since the ECU reset.

Has anyone else noticed that their car runs smoother after a ECU reset?

I had this happen after my first oil change. I then realized it was due to the extra spare key that they cut. I had both the keys on the keychain and it caused some kind of interference. I could crank the engine, but it would not start.

I removed the key and it was fine. To this day if I put both the keys side by side when I star the car, the same thing happens.

Check to see if you have an fob or keyless entry thing or anything that could be interfering with the nissan immobilizer.
