I love the Porsche Turbo look, with the incredibally wide and mean lookin rear wheels. Something that just screams "THIS CAR HAS WICKED TORQUE"

What is the widest set of rear wheels one can fit on the Z and what are the advantages/drawbacks of really wide rear tires?

 

Pretty sure you can fit 10.5s in the back depending on the rim manufacturer and offset. The downside to huge tires in the rear will be more noise/bumps and more understeer.

Could you offset it with a softer rear suspension and stiffer front?

With wide body kit, it really transform it to that Porsche Turbo look.

I imported the Wheel/Tire setup from Avalon Racing & I'm really happy with the setup - Racing Hart Wheel / Toyo Tire

 

Yeah Veilside, I meant you, but dare I ask, how much did that setup cost? I REALLY like those wheels... But I would also be interested in a 5/6 star pattern, but the offset is perfect.

 

Softer rear and stiffer front will make it push even worse. The best way to offset it would be to get 10.5's up front somehow.

 

 

It worked out quite expensive (for me - being in England - cheaper than UK tuning shops) but talk to Paul Gasparolo of Avalon Racing in New England & I'm pretty certain he can cut you a deal

just my opinion, please no flames.......if your going to run a 10.5" rear wheel, run a 9.5" front wheel to reduce understeer. the 1" staggered wheels arent bad at all. once you go beyond this ratio you affect front to rear handling a bit even if the offsets get your stance even front to rear.......no flames, no bad vibes, im just stating the truth about wheels size issues........its all about what you want from your z, looks, handling or looks & handling.......best of luck!

Handling with the setup that I have is very good, no issues whatsoever - Bear in mind that I have the European suspension setup, which is different to your 2003 US setup -

Not having driven a US Z, I can't make a definitive statement on the ride, but I have been told by another US owner who went for a spin in my car that the suspension setup feels completely different to the US one... Could just be our roads I don't know

 

veilside z, your wheels look great. those 10.5's look mean out back! the sidewings add a great look too.....i remember somone asking this once before a long time ago but i forgot, what are the bumps in the front bumper under the headlights?

They are headlamp washers - it's a European law, that if you have HIDs you must have washers... when you use your windshield washers with the lights on, they pop out & spray the headlights with a high pressure water jet.

similar thing with the side repeater indicators underneath the side Z - another bit of European legislation

 

they should have brought that law here i think the Z looks better with the side signals and the washers but they should make it a separate switch for the windsheild washer and head light washer

and also what is the widest wheels you can put on and have nuetral handeling? Cant you just get swaybars and mess around with the setting on them?
