2005 18" wheels.
I was thinking of getting 17" wheels on a new 2005 touring. Now I have a question. What are the advantages and disadvantages of going from 17" to 18" wheels? I'm sure Nissan will offer the 18" wheels as an option on the 2005 Z. ZRA.
disadvantage might be weight if they're not the track rims. But unless the Z you buy comes with 18's, dont get them. A better choice would be to get some aftermarket wheels, 18 or even 19 if you prefer. Probably cost the same, if not less depending on what you buy, compared to what nissan charges on wheels. Even better would be to go to the private classifieds and see if someone is willing to sell you their stock track wheels.
If you really like the stock 18s. Don't buy them with the car. There are plenty of people on this forum who are upgrading to aftermarket 18s and 19s, who will gladly sell you their stock wheels and tires for a good price. I sold my stock 18" G35C wheels on this forum to a "Z" owner.
Nissan wants $1,200 for them on the ZR option list. You can do better than that here, and you get to keep or sell you old 17s.

If you are thinking of getting a Z with the 18s as an OPTION, don't bother. Nissan wants way too much. I just replaced my stock 17s with the stock 18s that I bought from DrVolkl here on the site. He gave me a killer deal.
Remember that when add an option such as wheels to your car, you are adding that to the amount of the loan. So, you'll pay more than $1200 for those wheels because of the interest on the loan.

Thanks guys!! I wanted another set of wheels to put winter tires on them. I wanted to use the stock wheels to put winter tires on them, and buy chrome ones for the summer. ZRA.
