Default potential owner questions

Hey guys, i'm new to the board, and considering a 350z purchase for my wife. I'm a car guy, but I wanted a few questions answered from people who are very knowledgeable about the subject (what i'm trying to say is, don't reply if you don't really know)

#1: what are common problems that people are having with the 350Z?

#2: is there any unusual maintenance for maintaining this car?

#3: in Texas, is Mobil-1/Redline 10w30 okay, or should i use something else?

#4: is there custom PCM tuning software available?

#5: anyone have a sound clip of Borla on these?

All of these answers can be found using the search feature, they are all common questions and you will definetly find what you're looking for. P.S. try to find Dr. Bonz's borla clip, you'll like it

pj550v12 is on the money. Your questions are asked by almost every prospective owner who finds this forum. The search will allow you to dig up the answers they got and more.

BTW, if you're buying the car for your wife, exhaust mods are probably not a good idea. Women that aren't 'car gals' won't appreciate the increase in cabin noise. Just a thought, though I don't know your personal situation.

why can't you rotate the tires? or is that part of tire feathering?

My wife appreciates a great sound, she digs my Chevy LS1 sound. She wants the 350z for performance reasons anyway, I don't feel comfortable with her having a corvette or pontiac GTO

you cant rotate the tires because they are different sizes (rear tires are wider than the front tires) and also, the tires on the car are directional.

To be more exact, you CAN rotate the tires, however because of the front/rear stagger and the directional nature of the tires, rotation involves taking the tire off the wheels and swopping front/front and rear/rear. The inside sidewall of the tire before the rotation becomes the outside sidewall after. Not very convenient, and say goodbye to the paint on your wheels if you do this every 3-7K miles.

Don't get hung up on that though. The Z is a great car and tire issues don't afflict all owners.
