Cool Want your Bose fixed...Do This

I wrote NNA on Monday and this was the response I received yesterday.

"A technical service bulletin has been drafted and the parts for this fix will be available to order in November. You can schedule an appointment with the dealer for November. The dealership will have to order the parts for this fix. It is very important that you set up the appointment with the dealership because the Bose Amps will not be in inventory. Also, when you phone the dealer to set up the appointment, please have your vehicle identification number ready so they are able to order the necessary parts for you"

There you have it

Pat,
Did they give you Tech Bull number to reference so that the dealer will have a clue?

Outside of the Hellos & Goodbyes this was the verbatim response..I just got off the phone with the service department at my dealer and faxed them the e-mail I received..they immediately called back and said they couldn't do much yet but they would keep me posted by e-mail with any updates and that if he could get a part number he would order it for me

It will probably be another week before they get their info from NNA

I sent a copy of Pat's response from Nissan to the person handling my Bose case. Here's the reply back that I got:

Dear Mr. DeMartino,

The information posted is our official statement at this time and is accurate as to the current situation. Please be aware that the Bulletin will not be released until November so the dealerships may not be aware of the upcoming release until that point.

Sincerely,

Kyle - do a quick search for "bose" on here. You'll find a TON of posts. Basically, bad, bad auto volume adjustment and some muddy sound.

So... Are we all to assume that both issues are being addressed??

1. auto volume - bass boost

and

2. muddy audio

I hope the muddy crap audio get's fixed as well.... is it me or does it sound like the tweets don't even work?? Where's the highs?!

I hope this fix does something useful!

My original letter went to

nnaconsumeraffairs@nissan-usa.com

It was a very polite letter explaining how much I love my new Z and that I knew that they are working on the Bose problem with the Touring model. I asked that they please keep me informed on any progress and the next day ther responded. BTW...this was the first time I ever mentioned my job in a letter to NNA. Don't know if it made a difference but I do know I have never had such a quick response before.

It is my understanding that the amp change will fix both the auto level and muddy bass problems

N74DV...no, it's not you

Default Confirmed

I just checked with my Dad who "manages" a Nissan dealership and he confirmed that they heard a TSB will be coming out, but they have not seen it yet. The "audio pilot" feature is boosting the bass to compensate for the road noise. Fix will involve new amp and software and will be available early November. I'm getting mine done when I go see him at Xmas.

Thanks for the confirmation

Since I opened this thread, there have been a lot of additional threads opened on the same topic. Search engines are helpful if we use them

Pat
Right now the car is unbelievably fun to drive as long as the stereo is off. Thanks for the info. I will be off to my dealer next week.

Thanks, AudioPat for the heads up.

I'll check w/ my dealer next month. Like I said in another post, when I was listening to my radio yesterday, the volume changed by itself and I really thought I was imagining things. I tried playing my CD's today in my 6-CD Changer and the volume increased and decreased by itself. So I guess it's not only when in radio (AM/FM) mode. Glad to know that I'm not the only one and that I'm not going crazy...

So, when's the next SoCal meet??

Here is the latest update on this info...

Talked with my dealer today and he said they have not yet received the service bulliten from NNA. He has my e-mail and will let me know the moment he hears anything. I will pass on any information as I receive it.

I was made aware that a dealer asked one member to bring his car in so they could evaluate the Bose problem...there is no need for any dealer to take your car for evaluation of the Bose problem. NNA has already done this and they do have a fix in the works. Some dealer tactics really **** me off.

Yeah, but it says in the Bose_TSB.pdf that they should listen to it driving at normal city or highway speeds, so isn't NNA telling the dealers that the car needs to be driven?

But I agree it's stupid for them to have to drive it.
