Default Homelink Rear View Mirror

I cannot seem to get my Homelink rear view mirror programed for my garage. I do not have an owners manual for my car so I am not entirely sure I am doing it right. I used the method that works on my girlfriends IS300. I know that it could be my garage door but my house is only 4 years old and it should have a modern enough garage door opener right?

If I remeber correctly, you have to hold down the 1st and 3rd button (from the left) at the same time until the red light blinks. Release them, then hold down your garage door button and the button on the mirror you want to assign it to.

Might be TOO modern - if it has the "rolling code" feature. Did you check? If so, there are some basic instructions in the manual, but it will involve pressing a button on the opener itself.

1. To begin, press and hold the 2 outer Homelink buttons (to clear the memory) until the indicator light blinks slowly (after 20 seconds). Release both buttons.

2. Position the end of the hand held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the Homelink surface (mirror).

3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the Homelink button you want to program and the hand held transmitter button.

DO NOT release the buttons until step 4 has been completed.

4. Hold down both buttons until the indicator light on the Homelink flashes, changing from a "slow blink" to a " rapidly flashing blink". This could take up to 90 seconds. When the indicator light flases rapidly , both buttons may be released. The rapid flashing light indicates sucessful programming. To activate the garage door, press and hold the programmed Homelink button - releasing when the device begins to activate.

5. If the indicator light on the Homelink blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns solid, Homelink has detected a "rolling code" garage door opener signal. Proceed to steps 6 and 7.

6. Press and release the "smart" or "learn" program button located on the garage door opener's motor to activate the "training mode". This button is usually located near the attenna wire that hangs down from the motor.

NOTE - Once you have pressed and released the program button on the garage door opener, you have 30 seconds to complete step 7.

7. Quickly within 30 seconds of pressing and releasing the garage door opener program button, firmly press and release Homelink button ypu've just programed. Press and release the Homelink button up to 3 times to complete the training.

If the above steps is still unsuccessful, try www.homelink.com.

Hope this helps.
