Used 350Z with 700 miles for $38k and Dealer Attitude FREE! Z4 Pics!
I've been considering a new 350Z as a second car now for awhile and the color choice I want is Chrome Silver with Black. My local dealer has one (just how I want it) coming the first or second week of November. All that said, I have yet to drive a 350Z.
So, my local dealer tells me that I may want to drive about 30 minutes West into Kinston and ask to drive a used 350Z they have. They share that the guy who bought it was served with a divorce shortly after and had to trade the car back to the dealer.
Luck had it that I was in Kinston today to drive the new BMW Z4. After the drive, I stopped by the Nissan dealer and was promptly greeted at the door. I could see the 350Z sitting inside the small showroom with a USED price sticker. I informed the salesman that I was interested in the 350Z. He started telling me some things about the car and when I asked him why someone would trade it back after only 700 miles, he said that the owner felt cramped in the car.
Riiiiiiiiiiight!
I asked him what they were asking and he replied $37,900.
I replied with, "are you sure?"
And he says, "yeah, this car is about $36k new."
It was a Chrome Silver with Frost Touring and no NAV. I told him that these cars MSRP at $32k. He looked puzzled and replied, "yeah, but this one has heated seats."
I tried not to embarass the guy, I really did. I told him that was included with the Touring model. He then said, "well, to tell you the truth, I really don't know much about this car."
You don't say?
So, I asked him if the price was negotiable and he walked over to his Sales Manager. The sales manager is no more than 12 feet away and I actually hear him say, "Explain to him the law of Supply and Demand."
What? I just walked out. What a complete moron. As I pulled away, I see the salesman coming out of the dealer to stop me but I just drove off. Some folks have quite a nerve.

Bummers, I mean Bimmers are getting uglier & uglier IMO. I don't know what the fock their new design teams are thinking?
But hey, as long as it has that "Blue & White propellar" and "BMW" on the hood, people will buy em'.

Is it just me, or does the Z4 look like the Buick Bengal? [One of their concept cars]
Autoweek has spy shots of the new 5 series as well... it's got that butt ugly look of the new 7. Here's a chance for the rest of the world to get a jump on BMW, `cuz it looks like their designers have been binging instead of designing.

Saw a Brickyard AT with Frost interior on the inventory list of the Stevens Creek Nissan dealer. Same as the car I have on order except this did not have the Nav. Stopped by to look. Pre order car but the owner dropped out. Dealer asking $9,999 over the MSRP posted on the window. Salesman said they have delivered a total of 30 of the new Z's. Every preorder that dropped out has sold almost immediately - they have no trouble getting $7500-8000 over MSRP. "supply and demand" is alive and well in San Jose.
The Z4's tail end is alright, but the front end of the car looks like someone took a huge pan, smacked it and left it with a blunted nose. And the head lights looks like a pair of droopy lided eyes because someone left it with a PAN face. By comparison, the Z3 (which I have never been a big fan of...) looks like a retro-beauty queen.
i still think the s2k's back looks kinda like the z4's back...
or should i saw the z4's back looks like s2k's back....
not a lot... but still looks a lil alike....
but those bimmer rims are awesome
to me bmw has the BEST stock rims ....
new 7 series 19 inch rims!

Give me an M version of that new Z4 in black and I'm set.
I really like the new Z4, a great replacement for the Z3 with a good mix between retro lines (very Z8ish) and modern roadster styling.
Z4 vs S2k - too hard too call but if price was equal Z4 hands down.

Those bimmers
STOLE
the world-renowned Z logo from our Z cars. Why didn't they name their retarded looking "z"3/4 cars like "r"3/4 for 'retarded'
.
Like Zzyzx said, the nose is ALL ugly, unclean, straight up just like its own butt (tailights alright), looks like the grill on a diesel Dodge truck except with a sleepy
hoodline over headlights: absolutely NO SHARP SPORTY style. The whole front length is TOO long, just out of proportion with the rest of the car body. The z3 WAS already long and this is LONGER
. Everytime I saw a z3 on the road the driver just seemed to blend well way far back in the lazy- looking car, just NOT an agressive-looking roadster. The top is all CROOKED half way to the rear and suddenly dropped straight down abruptly, again unclean lines.
From its overall look sideway the car does NOT project a good feel of handling onto its driver because of the long hood line is just out of balance.
