redline was uped to 7K and the exaust valve timing was tweaked
as for the G its going to be built on the V36 skyline platform thats where the changes are coming from

This isn't only 13 hp - it is a different engine. Nissan has traded some of the characteristic linearity, low-end torque, and high-end drop off for a higher-revving, peakier performance. This is a step in the right direction, in my opinion. The motor will also be better suited for F/I, thanks to the new con rods.

Wait wait, the 35th anni version will have less torque but rev higher and have 300hp.............hmmmmmmm that is a step in the right direction if thats the case.
That will also suit the NA crowd better as well. If that is all true good job Nissan. How many 35th anni will be built????

Don't worry about our cars being crappier. We've had a year to three years worth of driving fun already.

i dont think the 13hp at the crank calls for everyone to run and get a TT. especially with the decreased torque.
just add some bolt ons like a intake and exaust
that way you gain a little hp with out sacraficing torque to do it.

This engine is very capable of a lot more than 300hp N/A to the crank. Remember that this is crank hp, not rwhp. Pretty much everyone one with an intake and exhaust is probably hitting 300 crank hp. I'm sure it didn't take Nissan much to get that 300hp rating. Some think this engine has little room left for more in N/A form, but they are dead wrong. With bolts-ons, cams, head work and tuning this engine will be putting down over 300 rwhp easily. Heck with the really aggressive cams you can have that now without the head work. Will it cost you, sure, this market is still very new, but the fact remains that there is room left for improvement in N/A form.

we all complain about the new additions to the 2005 z's but look at how much trouble they are going through just to crack the 04 ecu....... imagine how bad the 05 ecu/car will be to tune.....it basically in away just cancels each other out... you gain but lose at the same time... hehehe

good point
but for example a nismo r tune Z with the cams headers intake and exaust like you said makes around 320+ at the crank thats still under 300 rwhp so it might take a little more work to reach 300 the key to this lies in the ECU.
IMO the anni and GT roadster are just to hold the cars sales over for one more year using existing parts and option combinations not available in previous years
i think the 300 hp will probably appear across the board in 06 the only thing that keeps me from being completely sold is that a 26.5k base Z would make 300hp thats either a hell of a deal or too good to be true. i dont think any current car on the market makes that much hp for that price...does it? maybe a 05 mustang GT? i know the old F bodies did
