Thumbs up Are You Still Getting Ooohs & Ahhhs!!!

It's been almost 2 whole months and 3000miles racked up and I'm still getting this response: As most of you know (or can see by my Avatar ) I'm here in Dallas (Plano) which is home to MANY a Bad-A** cars, and I do mean many! Hell, new 911's and M3's are complete "common place" around here along with an occassional Murciealago, 360 Modena, and tons of AMG Benzo's. But I swear, everyday I drive my Z, it gets just as much attention as the 1st day! And keep in mind, there are several 350's in Dallas! I want to say at least 7 in a 5 mile radius from me! Yeah, yeah I know. There will supposedly be a sh**load of em' by this time next year. But isn't it nice to have the "New Toy" on the block, err, uhh Nation!!!

Constantly getting looks!

Today there was someone who was driving the opposite direction and they craned their neck all the way around and nearly got into an accident!

It's an attention getter without a doubt.

i am always late, since people NEED to look at the car and ask me a billion questions...

i am thinking of making a flyer, and leaving a bunch on my windshield.... kinda like a FAQ.

But there is nothing more frustrating than coming back to your shiny car (if you're like me, the Z stays CLEAN!) and having umpteen finger prints all over the windows! (probably due to my dark a** tint) Although this rarely happens since I always valet!

Not recently because of weather situation... can't take the car out when weather is crappy outside.

I noticed alot of car accidents on the way... it's mainly because of red light runners.

When I do drive, however, I notice some cars driving next to me and giving me thumbs up. Other drivers, say Eclipse, drive in a peculiar fashion. He'll keep a certain distance and constant speedd with my car. If he's ahead, he'll constantly checkout the side mirrors.

I wave at many people if i notice them looking at my car smiling.

I live in an area where a Dodge Sebring is cosidered "sporty".
Yes, I get oohs and aahs everywhere I go. 'Have yet to see another 350 on the road except at car show.

Using a valet is a BAD idea if you own a car people will want to drive. Trust me, I know. I used to work security in an affluent area and I saw valets taking hot cars off of the property on a routine basis. I was up their butts constantly, trying to get them nailed because of this and many other things they pulled. Friends I know who worked as valets can tell you many a story about joyriding...

Constantly getting looks. Took delivery early September but it just continues. Never had a car that turns so many heads. I liked the looks of the new Z but it is just a sports car. Makes me feel uneasy about leaving it alone. My friend with a Honda 2000 did not have this problem to the same degree when he got one of the first Honda's.

I usually pick a valet spot up close...park myelf....keep my keys....and then tip the valet really well for me "renting" the spot.

If you tell em what your doing ahead of time, they are cool about it. "free" money for them.

and no joy rides

Well if you guys knew me on a personal level, you'd know that I'm not in the least bit afraid of that! Wherever I go most valets know me from my Lexus. If not I just politely explain: "If there's a scratch on the car, that's a scratch on your a**!" And we generally have a great understanding.

Two days ago I had lunch with a couple friends and business buddies from Chicago. The resturant had valet parking. Just past the front door there was a 911 parked facing the door with an empty space next to it. The valet put my car next to the 911 for everyone to see.

He got a bigger tip than usual

Default ooohs and ahhhhs

Every time I take it out. If I'm driving, craning necks, or thumbs up. If its parked, every one has to walk around it or ask me questions. I've had it since 9/6 and I think its only 1 of 2 in a college town, the other one is a Chrome Silver that has been for sale at the dealership by the owner, the last time I saw it was in the parking lot of a professional building near my grocery store. The last I heard, the guy wanted $3K over MSRP for it.

Just this morning, I pulled up at a light alongside a guy in a Corvette, and he had a hard time getting his eyes back in their sockets. In the last week, I've been followed by a guy in an Audi TT, and had several "lurkers", those drivers that sit about 10 feet back in the other lane, match your speed, and just stare.
My favorite so far was a guy in an Audi who practically spun his head around as he drove by me in the parking lot. I think he did about a 359 degree turn in his seat, then had to unwind himself to look straight ahead to avoid driving off the road.

LOL! It's no attitude Dr D., just an understanding without words. You know a "Presence". And believe me, I treat everyone like I want to be treated.

No offense intended, but I really think you're kidding yourself if you think those guys will be intimidated in the slightest.

Even at night, even in the rain, even in the rain at night (like last night), folks pull up alongside, honk and gimme thumbs-up. Goes with the territory, I suppose.
