Argh, I was hoping Nissan wouldn't pull a "Honda" and make only the super secret special models have more HP... gayness if you ask me. Nissan was always known for having the same HP in all of their model cars (ex, Maxima, Pathfinder, Murano... etc).

13 more horsepower sounds like another gimmick to get a few thousand extra bucks out of people, and up the Z's specs by association at the same time. I sure don't see many tracks around. Maybe the brembo brakes, forged wheels, and aerodynamics needed some help.

I predict 300 (hp) threads and 7000 (redline rpm) redundant posts. I wonder if it would be possible just to shut up until someone posts a thread along the line of "Got my 2005 Track today - performance test and engine writeup inside with pics!" but that's probably not going to happen . Perhaps a sticky could be set up?

Oh well, it cost me a few extra bucks, but with minor mods, my Track still has more than 300 HP, so I'm not too upset by this news....

Yep, I think you can EASILY outdo 300HP for the cost difference in the new Track.

Heck, for the cost between an 04 Enthus and an 04 track you can slap on an S/C!

Whoopie-doo! just another gimmick to get more money, like somone says... with simple cai and/or cat-back exhaust, we are already close to if not exceed 300hp..

If you look at it carefully you would notice that all they did was up the RPM by 200. So that is where they get the extra HP. They didn't change anything. I tell you want I'm going to do. I'm going to ask for a reflash when they get the new software in January.

god...it seems like ppl are kinda hasty to call B$ today.

Its pretty common knowledge that this is the Nismo S-1 motor.
Its got some different internals, cams, intake and of course ECU. Do a search re: the infinity g35 6mt engine as its the same one.

I read a review re: the nismo car available stock overseas and they felt that the high-revving nature of the motor was FAR superior to the regular VQ in the Z.

so for us guys that are going to start major modding, there will be zero engine mods for this engine then probably for awhile huh? I mean, maybe there are and I'm just not familiar with them, but I didn't know they were readily available to the public for a Z. Or are the current parts for the VQ going to work on the S1 engine?

makes me wonder if it's cost efficient for venders like greddy etc to make a new turbocharger for this specific model

How do we know it's that nismo engine? Couldn't it just be a ECU remap?

I'm trying to think what the advantage of nissan's latest ECU settings will have over a technosquare ECU

Maybe they changed the ECU, cat and CAI or something like that. If I bought one, I'd probalby end up replacing whatever they have on there anyway

That could be since limited edition is a code word for "rip off" in the auto industry

I wasn't calling BS, I was just giving my opinion on where I thought the HP may have came from. If you know where and how the Hp was created that's good. If what you are saying is the fact then that's good too. I think what every one is saying is that Nissan should have produced more HP for the 35th Anniversary edition. At leat 350HP.

They did more than that. HP is already dropping by redline in the current Z, so raising the redline alone won't make any more power. According to what I've seen, they altered the exhaust cam timing too in order to get more flow at high RPM. They may have done other things as well.

So, this means that with a completely new motor, they only got 13hp? Somehow, I doubt this highly. Its a VQ35DE. Cams are the same. Internals are the same. We're talking 13hp here... your car probably makes that difference on a cold day.

Id go with the redline increase / ecu reflash. Yes, the engine loses HP as it exceeds 6700rpm, BUT with a reflash, it wont run as RICH as everyone knows it does up top (now, that is "common Knowledge").
