Angry West Coast Dock Workers: Now a WORK SLOWDOWN...

For all of us waiting for our Z's to arrive, they are now being unloaded...but at a slower pace of course:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2002Oct24.html

Soon, however, the "cooling off" period will be over and things will again come to a grinding halt. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. Will the Democrats join the Republicans in demanding the union workers get back to work? The Dems (who cherish the union vote) may be forced to choose between the U.S. Economy or the Union Dockworkers. Will they join the President in his efforts to resolve this or will they blame him?

Speaking of blame, let me remind you folks that the Democrats in the Senate (led by South Dakota's Tom Daschle) still REFUSE to even put up for a vote the HOMELAND SECURITY BILL that was drafted after the 9/11 attacks and subsequently passed by the House. Why do the Democrats refuse to bring it up for a vote? Because they want federal union workers to be exempt from the possibility of being fired! Can you believe it? If some of the people hired to work under this department turn out to be lazy SOB's, the Democrats think they should NOT be fired! How would you like it if someone hired to fight terrorism just sits on their *** and goofed off all day? Think we should be able to fire that person? Well, the Democrats dont. They think their union votes are more important than national security!!! Oh, they'll never admit this, but their votes (or lack there of) speak louder than their words!

Lastly, one more item most of you are probably not aware of regarding our Senate majority leader (Democrat Tom Daschle). Last year he attempted to slip extra pork into a bill that was eventually passed (but without the Daschle pork). What would his legislation have done? It would have unionized ALL police AND firefighters in the United States!!! So, for example, whenever another building goes up in smoke or another lunatic Muslim sniper goes on the attack, we might just have to defend ourselves....because the police and firefighters might be on strike. What F***ing idiots!

And let me remind you, that it was just three weeks ago that three Democrat Congressmen were in IRAQ smiling and shaking hands with Saddam. These congressmen were in agreement with Saddam, that George Bush must be stopped (not Saddam)! This made my blood boil!

Well, forgive my little rant here, but its election time. And lets not forget that this little tit-for-tat on the West coast (as some have already experienced) may continue to slow down the arrival of our Z's. But I care more for my country and way-of-life than I could ever care about that Z Im waiting on. Folks, dont forget there are much bigger issues facing us...and I hope you all vote! Your opinion really doesnt matter unless you do.

For those not registered to vote, but would like to register, go to this link:

Also, please vote in my "Nov Elections" poll over in the poll section. Thanks!

I agree with you for the most part... unionization is a dinosaur of the modern American economy... while it provided workers rights during the industrial revolution, it now only serves to breed inefficiency at the consumer markets' expense. Unfortunately, the federal workforce embodies the same inefficient practices with guaranteed job security.

Where I disagree with you is the entire concept of the Department of Homeland Security. How can you realistically create the second largest USG organization in two years? What you need is forced interagency collaboration, not a new organization, especially when Homeland Security is only going to duplicate the efforts of other USG agencies. Big government,

If so, then I can't wait to get out there with you.

One thing I know from personal experience is that these dock workers are corrupt. They get paid off by smugglers, and you would likely have to pay off someone just to get a job there. I shouldn't say how I know this. I'll just have to leave it at "trust me."

Plain and simple, someone needs to get out the beatin' stick and get those lazy grab-asses to do their frickin jobs. The union should be sued for the damage that it has caused to the economy. During the work cessasion, it was estimated that the economy was losing ***2 billion*** a day. California has already been hit hard by the Silicon Valley troubles, this is the last thing we need...
