Default octane question

if i put 87 octane gasoline in my Z is it a big deal? i just have a pop charger as far as mods are concerned.its just that gas is getting pricey here in southern cal

It wouldnt nessarily hurt the car, the car will retard itself to support the octane, but u may run into a case of where the engine might start knocking...but I wouldnt run 87 octane to save a buck here and there... I wouldnt want to hinder the performnce of the car

Don't know what the differntial is on gas, but you might be able to save a buck by purchasing octane booster from your automotive supplier. It could very well be moot point if the booster ends up costing the same as the price of x amount of gallons? Just a thought

There are several threads about octane boosters.... and the general overall out come of them all have been that they dont work!!

There are also several threads on using cheap gas, and most people agree that if you bought a $30,000 car, you should have planned for, or have enough money to put the proper gas in it.
