Default HID replacment size for a base 350z

I just want to confirm that I would need a H7 D2R retrofit kit for the base 350Z. This is for the low beam Is this correct?

Does the wire harnessing have to be upgraded to handle the power of the new bulbs?? or can you just sitck in the new bulbs? how does it work?

correct, and no, you don't need to replace the harness, stock harness will work, but you just can't stick the HID bulb and expect it to work. The HID bulb requires an HID ballast to operate.

What are some good places to buy this H7 D2R retrofit kit and a ballast? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to aftermarket HID's, so any help and advice on a nice pair for my base Z would be very helpful. Thanks.

im using hella H7 8000k. they have a slight blue tint to them, very bright. only down side is its not as effective, its more for looks.
Also to install these, i found it easier to just lift the car up and do it from under the headlights.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Low Beam H7 ( HID is D2R )
High Beam is ?

As for the low beam, wouldn't it be using D2S bulbs as the Z is more of a projector housing? D2R is common use for reflective housing like that of most Hondas.

They must be REALLY blue, huh? Are they much bluer than most HID's you see on the road?

I have a 2004 Base 350Z and have the McCulloch H7 HID 6000K HID kit. It is a direct install but, you will need to drill a hole on the headlight cap to run the wires. You will only need the D2R HID bulbs if your Z is already equiped with HID lighting. And IMO don't go over 6000k when selecting HID bulbs. Because the visability will get worse.

Here is a website were you can purchase the McCulloch HID Kit

http://www.streetrays.com/catalog/in...45ec4f3b9c55ad

You can also check Ebay. You can get them cheaper there.

I had a Focus Brand hid kit that used Phillips Ballasts and OSRAM bulbs made in Germany when I had my GTI.

the light was pure white with not a hint or blue or yellow at all, and it was so bright. it looked like stadium lighting and it shined really far and made everything clear and pure white.

I recommend Phillips & OSRAM kits.

Now why would the low beams use D2S and high beams used D2R ? that doesn't make any sense.

Projector housing = D2S
Reflective housing = D2R

Just an FYI:
For the Base model Our High Beam uses H1's (H7's are for the higher models)
