if i think about it from the film makers point of view, i would need these cars to stand out from typical "colors" of cars. which explains why there are all those interesting stickers all over it.
(i call it interesting, not ugly).
I just hope they make good use of the cars like bmw films, most recently John Woo's Hostage. (www.bmwfilm.com)

I was hoping that the Z would arrive too late to end up in the movie...

Here's a question:
Do they have to license these cars from their manufacturers? I guess what I'm asking is, did Nissan NA give them the OK to use a 350Z and Skyline in filming?
All I know is, if I ever make a movie about imports, it'd be a documentary more like 'Beyond the Mat' or something like that, although the original was enjoyable if you didn't take it seriously--

FREAKIN CRAIG LIEBERMAN IS TO BLAME FOR ALL THIS NON-SENSE!
i mean. holy freakin cow. not all fixed up cars look like they belong to a Circus. as "technical" advisor to a movie, he is REALLY REALLY STUPID to thing that people who modify street cars actually paint and make their cars look like stupid Matchbox cars.
what an idiot.

My guess would be that car companies give the studio cars for free, and even pay extra to show the cars in a good light and give them extra camera time. Movies, especially "popular" movies like this, are all about product placement. If you can somehow sit through it, count the ads. It helps pass the time.
