The great majority of what our 350Z group does is very controlled, dedicated instruction and track time with well understood passing zones (only on straights...no corners contested.) We're actually having a 350Z-only, instructional track event this Friday at Pueblo Motorsports Park if you're interested. I don't know how far you are from Pueblo, but here's a link to the thread, just in case:

As for Time Trials, the local SCCA region started a new track-based (not Auto-X) Time Trials program this year. I don't know if they're planning on doing more next year, but it might be something to keep in mind for competitive, but not dangerous, track time.

If you decide to do the tape -- just use 3M Painters Tape form Home Depot. Cheap and it comes off really easy leaving no residue.

I suggest checking out your local SCCA web site for an autocross or track schedule.

I just went to my first autocross today it was great!!
I didn't enter but I did the course drive thru, it was so much fun my heart was pumping so hard when it came to zig-zagging in and out of the cones.. My first time and I didn't even take out a cone!!
But I forgot the camera

congrats on the run......... now just wait and try and do the cones on the verge of spinning out......... then your heart will really be pumping, and now you know why some of us like it so much
the joys of oversteer......... probably punched it too hard as he exited the corner..........
that is one of the reasons i love mid engined cars, you can start putting the power down as you exit a corner a lot sooner than front engined cars...... allowing you to carry more speed out of the corner and be faster on the straight........ its how i kept up with vette's, vipers, and a lot of other faster cars when i only had about 130 HP NA in the mr2 stock........ come in faster, exit faster, adn on short courses, the time you make up in the corners more than makes up for what the big dogs can do on the straights......... then when i was running 387 RWHP, they couldnt catch me on the corners, or the straights, usually no matter how long they were.... if i had my car properly set up, i could have almost twice the exit speed on any corner than they had. i would start accelerating right at and sometimes ever before (depending on the corner) the apex......
