Default Cracked Windshield?

I got my z with 5k miles on it already. It was a "program" car. The first weekend I had it I took it to sedona, great drive through the Arizona mountains.

When I got home there was a 10" crack in the windshield. I don't remember a rock hitting it..anybody else get cracks like this?

I get chips all the time it is very soft and crappy glass. My old man got his replaced because of a 1" chip. He now has much better glass.

the angle and quality of the glass makes the windshield crack rather easily

I've got a small crack coming up from the bottom of mine. Haven't even had the first oil change yet!

Safelite has quoted me $240 for moblie installation. The gal on the phone couldn't verify that the new windshield will have the black dots on the top-I think they're for the Homelink system.

I got a chip the other day I was going out to lunch. Apparently the truck in front of me kicked a small rock back pretty fast. I was doing about 30 MPH and was surprised at how loud the thud from the rock was.

Luckily mine hasn't cracked yet.

i've had chips and cracks

WARNING THOUGH.

when you get it replaced, please do not watch them do it.

The process is very tedious and long, they have to take off body parts in order to replace the window.

its nasty to look at.

I recently got mine replaced and i watched them do it.

Nope, its just to block the sun a little bit where the visors can't reach. My mom just had hers replaced on her Saturn and they put one on with the little black dots on the top.

I had a truck kick up a huge rock and hit me the other day. I had just passed under a freeway so at first I thought someone was throwing crap down at me! Suprisingly, my windshield didn't crack...

I have a G35 Coupe. I live in Raleigh and was fighting the ice storm traffic last Wednesday when I heard this loud POP. I was at a dead stop, so I knew it could not have been a rock, but then I saw this huge crack run along the base of my windshield. I am guessing the extreme cold outside and the defrost inside did not mix well and caused the glass to crack. So I took it to the Infiniti dealer and the dude took his knife...poked around at the base of the crack and then told me warranty would not cover a new windshield. He told me a rock must have hit me earlier on, but the crack is so low, under the wiper blade, I think that's false and I would have heard it hit the windshield. My husband felt around the night before I took it in and could find NO dints or holes in the glass...completely smooth. The guy took pictures and said he'd call me to let me know if it will be covered. No call yet. Has anybody else gone through this??? I am new at this car stuff and not really sure what to do. Thanks for any advice you all might have!!!!!!

Contact your insurance co. You have like a 1% chance of getting it warrantied.

I got mine replaced for FREE through my insurance, and my insurance rate stayed the same afterwards b/c it wasn't my fault.

It is a state law in Florida. Auto insurance company must replace cracked/broken front windshield with no deductible and no questions asked. YMMV in other states.

Mine had a 10 inch crack when I came back from vacation. Progressive Insurance will only pay full bill if windshield is "repairable". If it has to be replaced (which it does), I have to pay the deductable. I guess I'm way better off paying for this out of my pocket. Any one know how much this will cost me, any recomendations for glass shops? This is in SD CA.
