How often do you run HID lights?
2000hours, drive for maybe 2 hours a day tops?
thats 1000 days, or 3 years. though I personally dont even hit 1 hour a day which would be 6 years. I wouldnt worry about them blowing out next week...

Unfortunately I use them very rarely. I've seen so many Maximas, G35's and even some Porsches with the HID headlights stolen. I don't what my car be the first Z I've seen with stolen HID's. I'm soo paranoid now, I only use them on highways and dark streets at nights, I'll usually just run the parking lights (I know its dangerous). F%*&king theives down here in S. Florida, any others in the country see this as a major problem?
Hey,
Did you all notice that the lights aren't that blue when they are new?
At first, they're bright white, with a hint of yellow.
The reason I noted the difference was when I parked my 05 Z beside my friend's 03 Z. Quite a difference, his lights were soooo much more blue!
I read that the lights have to 'burn-in' about 100hours before they reach their optimal colour.
Any thoughts?

After several near misses by soccer moms in there SUV's on there cell phones, I now drive with my HID's all the time. The car can be very hard to see from other cars. I found this out while driving my GMC Yukon. A 350Z came up on my blind side with no headlights on and I almost started to move over without ever seeing him there.. Running them all the time is a very small price to pay

wait, i'm confuse.... I thought the High Intensity Discharge were the bulbs and they don't look blue. I thought the xeons were plasma so they work by charing gas, thus they turn blue. Am I wrong? My friend's Z doesn't have the factory blue lights, so he got blue bulbs. I have the factory blue lights, what do I have, HID or Zeons?
HID uses xenon gas to emit light. Xenon and HID wording are used interchangeably.
HID/Xenon lighting requires a ballast and ignitor for the lights to work. You need high voltage potential for it to work, which the battery cannot supply.
