Angry How can I fix this minor scratch?

OK, quick quiz for all you auto body detailers out there. . .some random idiot in a white vehicle scratches your Z while backing out of a parking lot. He (or she) doesn't do much about it but drives away. What's the best, cheapest way to get rid of those white paint marks?

Look below to see what I mean. I drew a black arrow pointing towards the scratches. Sorry the pics aren't that good but you get the idea. Any suggestions?

If the white marks are from the other vehicle some polishing compound should take the marks right out. If the white marks are your base coat then you'll have to get the scratch touched up with paint.

Looking at the picture it appears to be the paint from the other vehicle (in my best judgement). Some polishing compound (if it's real bad then maybe a rubbing compound) will take it right off then simply wax/polish the surface to finish it up. For scratches like that I use Old #7 rubbing or polishing compound but any good name brand product should work fine.

Try using Kit's or Turtle Wax Scratch Remover (it will say they are clear coat safe on the bottle)...they are safe for clear coats. If you use old #7 polishing compound you may possibly cut through the clear and definitely ruin your paint. Use a damp rag (then wipe with a dry rag...I use diapers) with the scratch remover.
Good luck!
