Default Gone missing?!?

What..the...f*ck.

Sometime today, maybe last night, very recently anyway, someone stole all my tire nozzle caps. Seriously. All 4 tires now have exposed air nozzles. I did find a good use for the brake dust, though: it's great for fingerprints. Do you think the cops will laugh at me if I report stolen nozzle caps and have them print the wheels?

I'm just afraid it's a way of "marking" cars to be stolen or something...

Kids today.

You know, I didn't even think about the pressure monitors...they're in the caps? Crap, I thought I'd be able to get away with like $.50 per replacement.

Probably teenagers.

You are right CoachZ, the caps are just that - caps. The tire pressure monitor is in the valve body inside of the wheel - you can't get it unless the tire is dismounted. However, note that the valve stem caps on the TPM valve stems are not black plastic, but are aluminum with a rubber gasket inside to help prevent air leakage (over time).
HTH & good luck on your search for replacements. Please post the replacement costs when you get them.

I'm all about high performance nozzle caps. Excess weight is excess weight, no matter how small...

Them damn kids just like anything shinny!
You know, I actually called up the police department, told them it was going to be silly...but they sent someone out anyway. They lifted prints from the wheels, wrote up a report. And, to top it off, they blamed:

kids.

See, we were all right along to blame those darn kids. Oh, wait, the police could just be profiling...I'm supposed to be against that, right?

Default Back on Topic!

"Z" logo billet aluminum valve stem caps with o-ring gasket inside.

Set of 4 was $15 IIRC for my 240Z. Should also work on the Z33!

That's pretty darn cool...I'm going to have to look for those. Did you get them through a Nissan Dealership's parts center?

Bought a set of aluminum caps after losing three sets of chomes... Found that a 10mm socket head and a small ratchet works really well... haven't lost them yet (knock on wood).. just need to be careful ratcheting them on (not really ratcheting, just tightening)... just enough so that those tiny little fingers can't get them off!!!

Cheers!

Here is a picture of the cap on my 240Z. IIRC, I got them from Courtesy Nissan years ago. Don't know if they still have them.

I hope you're being facetious.

It seems unfortunate that you'd so wantonly use tax dollars like that...

Sorry Chad - but stealing is stealing no matter how trivial it seems - or perhaps you would rather wait for these 'kids' to graduate to the school of "stealing the entire car."

On the issue of calling the police, I say why not. As Kraigman said, it deters thiefs from graduating to the next level and it makes cops work in a postive manner for you instead of against you. The only experience I ever have with law enforcement is when they're behind me with their lights flashing. Give the cops a call and pull them off a speed trap in your area.
