your right Ford never put out a good looking car in 30 years . The power has always been off the pace . the new mustang looks good as does the gt40 and the concept cobra coupe , the concept cobra ....I dont care for

What does he care, his personal assistant will be doing the waiting.

What I don't get is how are the factory techs certified to work on such a high performance piece/? And you know they'd all take it for a joyride - something you wouldn't really hafta worry about at a Ferrari dealership I'd imagine.

But I guess a car is a car is a car... but I'm sure getting teh right torque specs and small details on a Ford GT would matter more than on an escort.

Didn't hear about the nose dive problem, but guess that would explain why Saleen saw fit to push the front wheels forward 6 inches! (see page one post)

Kinda sad the aftermarket had to redesign the suspension geometry to balance the car out.

Well the SVT guys get special treatment at the service dept. Its part of the "SVT package". So I am sure that owner gets even better treatment. But then I would bet money most if not all of those cars go into a collection. Hardly ever beeing broken in or driven.

Default Owned many Mustangs and have to say

like doc91671 said, the 2004 v6 had 193 hp. the 2005 has 210 hp. granted the z makes more hp than the v6 mustang, but the v6 mustang can be bought for about 19k.

anyways, i havent seen the new mustang in person yet, but given its huge aftermarket support, you can basically change anything you dont like about it for really cheap. [/B]
Although they are good looking they are quite cheaply made with suspensions made from buckets of bolts. They jump all around in curves, especially bumpy ones. Great HP from motor (till they break wich is all the time) They kinda feel like a tonka toy or video game when you drive the...or sex with a condom
I hope they added traction control & stabilty control. I rev my motor challenging young guys at the light on rainy/snowy days...they always gun it and spin out into the gutter as they know not how to drive a rear wheel driven car. I drive off at normal speed laughing...try it

Also the V6 actually went down in power. The 04 V6 had 233, the new one has 200. Since they skimped on the transmission and interior, they could put some effort into the engine.

Maybe I'm being overly critical though, at least it's priced right (although the local dealers are marking it up 2-3 K).
The cars are dynoing 275rwhp (stock, low miles). This is roughly the same power as a Mach 1. Owning a 2000GT (235rwhp) and driven a Mach, I'd take my GT (believe it or not) because the GT has a lot more throttle response. I hope the new GT isn't as dull.

I've seen a few of the 2005's. I don't know what all the interior complaints are about. The new interior is decent. The speaker trim is pretty bad, but otherwise it's a nice interior. I prefer it to the 350z's. My only complaint is the hood height. I'm 6', it feels like you are looking at it at eye level. I'm worried about short people driving it.
The interior on my 2000 leaves everything to be desired.

I'm not a big fan of the styling, particularly the overall theme and the rear. I think that in future releases, the car will look better hopefully they'll deviate from the retro theme. You can see they've left the wheels, mirrors, hood, and bumper notably plain. I'd like to see a meaner, lower front bumper, wheels like the SSR GT7's, no spoiler, revised trunk, flat lower side trim, and bigger brakes. We'll see though.

Are you seriously going to knock on the Ford GT?? Car and Driver did a comparo between the 911 GT3, the Ferrari 360 Stratdale and the Ford GT. The GT completely destroyed both cars in every category. With 550 hp, it can accelerate 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and pulls about a G on the skidpad. The Ford beat both cars around the track by over 2 seconds. And it costs less then the Ferrari by about $50,000. So you tell me, whats up with that Ford GT??

umm...how about the fact that you can get the optional 16 inch alloy wheels with spinners, i think that is absolutely absurd espcially for such a "classic" muscle car. I think Ford has just about killed that car, I like the rest, but spinners from the factory you must be joking

I couldn't agree with you any more... not only do I agree, but I just paid off my first car, a 99 Mustang as well. I was actually really excited and anticipant and had looked at getting an 05 for a while, but was immediately distracted by $5,000 MSRP mark-ups for a car that's so widely mass produced and will soon be all over the streets anyways.

FYI that option is for the V6 model only.

I saw a white one today on the parkway. A girl was driving it and it had a crappy "mustang" banner already on the front windshield. To be honest i think it looks better in pictures than it does in person. This was a v6 however. Oh and she wouldn't look at me when i revved hehe. Btw that orange one looks hot but i would take it in black.

What I want to know is what these car are putting down @ the wheels.

Lets face it our cars have 230-240 @ the wheels not 287.

The 05 stangs are putting about 275horses to the street as stated above. The new engine is under rated at 300hp its probably more like 320-325

Some guy at my work had the nerve to park his 05 Stang Next to my Z today. I stopped to take a look at it on the way to lunch and was not very impressed with the interior/exterior styling. The stock wheels made we want to vomit. I smiled and happily turned to admire my Z...

The new mustangs look like *** in my opinion, but I'd have to admit that orange one in the picture looks kinda nice.

I do like that orange one, and with some mods, it probably would be nice.

First, I'm a Porsche guy (~15 years, various models), and still have a 911. The Nissan Z was a departure from Porsche, but one I'm completely satisfied with. I really like the Z, though it would be nice if it had more get up and go, but overall, it's fast enough for my needs.

That doesn't mean I don't look at other cars on the road (constantly), and in parking lots (constantly) and see if there's another car I'd rather have. So far, I like the Z.

So onto my Mustang experience. I've only seen pictures, until last night. Diagonally across the road from me at a light was the new stang. First impressions were that it took me a minute to even notice it was there. I saw all the cars, but didn't realize it was the new stang. Maybe because it was dark grey, and didn't stand out that much, but... even after noticing it, it didn't look all that amazing to me (personally) and I didn't wish I waited to buy it over the Z, nor would I trade in the Z for one.

I will say I've never been a huge Ford fan, and definitely NOT a Mustang fan. That said, I've never been a huge Nissan fan either, nor a Z fan. I almost bought a 280Z once and later was glad I didn't. I think I bought a 914 at the time instead and restored it.

I do like the older Mustangs and think this one will look nice as a convertible (I assume that's coming soon). It will also look nice with a few mods. I modded my Z to taste and it's somewhat drastic, so it's hard for me to compare my Z to a stock new stang.

People I know with Mustangs haven't always had positive words to say about the car, so I've never been into them. Hopefully (for Mustang owners) this one will be decent . Obviously there's a strong following of those cars.

Have you ever driven a Mustang? I hate people who criticize a sports (or sporty) car before driving one. Driving is what a sports car is all about. Personally, I think the Suby STi looks horrid. I love how they drive though, making it oh so much more pretty in my heart. I've driven a Z, and my big hold back is the engine. So unresponsive. I drove a boxster. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the low power, but the engine was responsive as could be and the steering crisp. I drove an Evo and think it's a hunk of junk.

Anyway, my point is don't knock it'll you've tried it.
