Every dealer has a story....here's theirs.
Take it for what it's worth.......
Just returned from a Richmond CA Nissan dealer. I spoke with the sales manager for about 20 minutes. Here is a summary of the conversation:
This dealership initially received a seven car pre-order allocation. They sold them all at MSRP and were given an initial allotment of three cars. They have until Monday to sell these but are not actively attempting to sell them. Their goal is to put these three cars on the floor and price them at the "market price".
As to HP figures, the manager said everything in print is listing the car between 280 and 300 horsepower but his factory sources tell him it will be "in excess of 300". The reason for the secrecy: Nissan would rather have everyone surprised in a positive manner when the actual figures are released. (Similar to how the pricing was handled).
I might add this is the same dealership that originally told me I could preorder at MSRP + $10,000. The manager said "they" decided a week later to sell all pre-orders at MSRP.

I can't deny that I am not hoping the number is higher than we've been led to believe. Fingers crossed.
