Default Z Crashed 2 Times Before 5000 Miles!

Well I had my Z for about 7 months. The first crash was a hit and run. I had my Z parked on the side of the road. I really didnt want to but I had no choice. It took about 2 and a half months to repair. Two weeks later after I received it, on my lunch I went out to eat. I was waiting for the light to turn green. I took off, I turned and I pressed the gas hard. My wheels of a sudden started spinning. My wheels locked. The Z was doing a drifting motion. I had no intentions of drifting especially on a public road. I just lost control. I tried to get the Z back in control but lost it and went crashing to the curb. The damages was about $13,500. The first accident was about $11,500. So thats $25,500 in total damage. I have 2004 Base model Z which its about 26,800 or so. That is almost the worth of my Z in damages. What should a do. Trade or should I keep if I dont have any issues. I love my Z but havent had time to enjoy it.

Well,
Personally if I were you I'd fix the Z, and go to a driving school so that you learn how to control this beast. The driving school should help prevent expensive accidents. You'll not get anything in a trade methinks. I think you'll have to drive it into the ground because no sane person would buy it.

Most of the damage has has been from suspension work. The first and the recent accident had minimal body damage. No frame damage. This car can take a hit. The only major repair was on the left rear panel. I think I will just keep it. I had no issues after the first repair. Plus you get lifetime warranty on all repairs made on the car. The body shop that my Z is at is highly recommended from Nissan dealer nearby. They actually have the car repaired but they just need to put on the emblems and polish it before it can be released to me. I was surprised they only took about 4 weeks compared to 2 and a half months from the other body shop. Plus I know the Fleet Manager at a Nissan dealer. He may be able to get out of this one without hurting my wallet too much. I will take care of my Z from now on. It was a just a stupid mistake on my part. It wont happen again.

If it drives straight, and you're not having any problems with it, I'd keep it. You'll get eaten alive on a sale or trade unless you can find someone who'll take it without inspecting or carfaxing the car.

The advice for driving school is VERY good advice. Crashing your car at an intersection from a standstill is a clear indicator that you have a few things to learn about vehicle control. I would hate to see what's going to happen to your insurance rates after these two accidents.

Good luck.

Well for the first accident, I am not at fault. I wasnt driving the car. As for knowing how to control the Z, I have had a few runs in Ortega road. It is located in Southern California. This road is miles of sharp and winding turns. I know how to drive but again a public road is not a race track. Believe me I drive with caution and know what I can and cant with the Z. That time I just lost control. This is my first rear wheel drive car so I still got things to learn though. Trust me i will savor the moments I have with my Z.

my z now has 50000 miles on it.. . i still love it!

after 2 weeks and 1200 miles... my car was parked out side and it was backed into and the door crushed in...

after in the shop for a month... 2 weeks later, i was rear ended while stopped at a light...

2 months in the shop, got it out and a month later cut off on an on ramp and spun into the wall...

3 months after i got the car back from that a fedex truck tire came off infront of me and took out my radiator and front bumper...

but.. still love it

Thanks for all you guys feedback. I would love to take my car and track and learn a few things from the pros. But for right now I will just take it easy and enjoy every moment. I am actually feel good about the car because this body shop is highly recommended by Nissan. Also the body shop people showed me what was done and also stated the previous body shop didnt do a good job and so they will fix that too. These guys are great. I would recommend them already. The name of the body shop is Hi Tech Collisions and Glass Centers. The one I went to is in Garden Grove California.

I had a guy in an '85 Buick LeSabre rear end me. Thank God he was insured & I was taken care of within days.
