Scarry, huh? I just went to the site once to update an oil change and it said I had 3152. I thought what? Went out to the car and they were right on the money. I now have 8000 miles on it. But everytime I checked the site, sure enough......precise mileage......talk about a little paranoia........

www.nissanusa.com then slide pointer over "owning", then slide down to "my nissan". You need to register first.

p.s. The MAIN Nissan site..........

Wow - I thought the premise behind GPS was that your car picks up the GPS signal, didn't know you broadcasted anything. I thought that's why there's no silly subscription charge - b/c GPS signals are free and shooting all around the air...

I don't think it has anything to do with the Nav unit. My wifes sentra doesn't have a nav and the site knows the mileage on her car. Also my Frontier doesn't even show up on the website.

mine is off by almost 1000 miles. my odometer reads 16852 and on the site it says 17731.. so i guess it doesn't apply to base model

I was told by the service dept today that the mileage you see on the web site is based on a formula that estimates the amount of mileage driven between service calls. When you take your car in for service they update the actual mileage and it in turn recalculates the average amount of miles driven per day.
They said there is no tracking device in the cars and they use this formula to keep customers informed when they are due for maintenance.

I don't know how true this is when they can have mileage estimations dow to the tee, am I that predictable in the amount I drive the car?????????

It is based on a formula. Must just be some wild coincidence.
