Default Steep Driveway Problem

As I am nearing the purchase of the Z I started thinking about little details and here is one I can't find the solution to. My driveway, as you probably guessed from the title of the thread, is pretty steep. My current car, Accord, is scraping the driveway with the front bumper so will the Z cause it's even lower. Did anyone had this problem? Does anyone have a solution in mind? Thanks for the help.

That's a good question. I can't imagine that the front end clearance on the stock bumper is equal to that of an Accord, so yeah, it's probably going to scrape. As for how you fix it....Depends on how many liberties you can take with your driveway. Could be pretty ugly though.

With my body kit on, the incline of my driveway is only passable at a snails pace to ensure that no spring compression occurs during plane transition. And my driveway isn't that steep!

Buy the Z, if it scrapes, move to a new house.

LOL, that's what I do now. I approach it at about 45% so my left front goes first, then right front. I was thinking about getting some kind of a transition ramp and just wondering if they sell those anywhere. I don't want to make one but I am affrain I might have to eventually.

I have to come into my driveway at closer to a 75/80 degree angle... once I prop up the right front wheel, I then turn the wheel all the way and hobble up the driveway all crooked.

Yeah- entering a steep driveway at a sharp angle works well most of the time. Since the wheels are so far forward, the Z can can handle most urban situations surprisingly well - provided you take basic precautions.

I have the same problem-- a steep driveway. I got the city to put some cold patch at the bottom of the drive. The best solution I've found is to come off the drive at an angle. Ultimately it is going to destroy the curbing, but I can live with that. I've also found that backing down and angling it is more effective but because of blind spots more risky.

I have a seriously steep driveway too, and I have to come at it at an angle too. I already have some scratches on the bottom of my front bumper, but you can' t see them unless you get on your hands and knees. Now I absolutely CRAWL up and down my driveway, and I enter it at a really sharp angle.

My driveway was about 2 - 3 inches above the street where it met and had a right angle where it meets the street and at the edge.

I dont know if that made any sense, but we solved the problem by getting concrete. We made a small ramp that went out 5 inches and it alot better.

I have the same problem - I park my car on the right side of the carport. When I get near my drive way - I put it infirst gear - dont feed it any gas other that what it feeds in that gear without stepping on the pedal, enter on the left side of the drive at the bottom - and angled to the right side as it goes up the drive - straighten it our as it gets up the drive - works nice!! Havent hit the posts on the right side of the carport yet!! - allthough my side mirror does come close sometimes. Leaving the carport , put it in reverse, after it starts rolling - put in neutral and twist the wheel to the right as it goes down the short drive! Works nicely!!

The nose of a stock Z from the front wheel well is pretty short. You'll be fine with angled approaches. Most of the time you'll be scraping the guard sticking below the bumper anyway.

When you take a Z for a test drive, take it home and see what happens.

I had a problem with a steep curb going into the driveway of my previous house. My Stealth was having a difficult time when entering and leaving the driveway. I called the County Highway Department and they came out and put an asphalt ramp at the end of my driveway at no charge. After the ramp was installed, I never had another problem. I'm attaching a picture showing what I mean.

Fix the problem with duct tape. Not sure how exactly but hey; "Duct tape is like Star Wars; It has a light side, a dark side, and bonds the universe together".

Actually, wise guy, he asked two questions. One was yes or no, the other asked for a solution to his problem (But I can't say much, I didn't offer one of those either ! )
