Pics and Video of Daytona Touring coming soon...
SkiDazzle and I just got back from the Z send-off at TMS in Ft. Worth Texas. Mike's got a ton of video and pics, plus we have footage of the Z rolling down the freeway. You'll have to excuse both the quality and langauge in the video as I was unfamiliar with the camera. Unfortunately (for me), the Z that arrived was a Touring AT so there's no crazy burnouts or nasty revving which was a real letdown, nor did I get to play with the shifter. I did manage to get up close and personal with the interior and I'm extremely happy with my Touring decision. The seats are TIGHT and the bolsters hug you like a crazy aunt.
It was great to meet Zay, ZYA and a couple of other frequenters to the board who's nicks I didn't catch. If you're here, give a shout out so we can keep in touch. I think that future 350Z owners are going to have a great time when we start our get togethers after the cars begin to arrive.

some more notes:
the car was an auto touring with 17" ers, daytona blue...
now this blue looked way darker than most pics, because it was completely overcast this morning, and about 20 degrees cooler than normal... today it looked more like the photo in the desert from nissandriven.com, not as pearly as jeff's pics... again, this is really cool the car can have 2 looks
the car had no NAV, so I got some pics and video of how the "hole" looks and works.
also, the middle cupholders are removable out of the compartment.
i also got some shots of the re040 (YUCK!!), antenna, rear wiper, battery and brake fluid compartments...
some close up engine shots for an idea of the spacing...
the highway videos are sure to infamous! droidekaus was swearing while i was swerving trying to help him with the IP-7's zoom control...
we snuck around the back way to avoid the police barracade, and was able to ride next to the 350z on the highway.
some notes from a Nissan Press Guy: there are no nice white shots yet, as he says "the car does not photograph well". the blue is the insiders' favorite color.
he also mentioned they got a bunch of pics coming out on the redline, lemans, and daytona. all real "actiony"
ask away....

SKiDaZZLe & droidekaus,
I believe I met you guys this morning... I was wearing the 350Z t-shirt.. with my wife. I have several good quality pics also, even with Mr. K, and one with Mr. K raising his walking cane high in the air over the car.
Let me know if you would like me to e-mail them to you. My e-mail is mlapoint5@attbi.com. My name is Mike.

The RE040 is one of the stickiest factory tires you can get that is reasonably decent in the wet as well. I've run RE040's on my MR2 Spyder for the past year and they are as close to track tires as you can get.
They are an excellent choice and I'm glad they're using the tire.
By the way, you'll only get 10K miles out of them, so be ready to buy another set of them in a year.
Just my opinion, but I'm glad they chose that tire over the $300 Michelin Pilot Sports.

SKiDaZZLe, BigZ, droidekaus,
It was great meeting you guys this morning. Seeing the Z in living color was awesome. Can't wait to get togehter with you guys and compare stories when we get the Z's. My wife was blown away by the car, I think she's more excited now than I am. Big Z you wife seemd pretty excited about the car to. She told us about the verbal agreement.

I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet you guys and see the 350Z up close. I truly intended to be at Blue Mesa at 5AM this morning but I didn't set my friggin alarm clock correctly last night. I've been bummed all day about it. I'm going back to the good old reliable, analog, wind up every night, ear deafening alarm clock. My wife's plug in digital thingy is just not very reliable and I frequently screw up the AM/PM setting on either the time or the alarm. Glad to hear y'all had a good time, though.

WOW, I got to see the Daytona Touring at the stop in Round Rock, Texas. Unbelievable. Seeing that car in person is gonna make the wait all that much worse. My biggest worry was seating space. I'm 5'11" and 237, and I felt like I had plenty of room. I'm also glad because I got to see the 17" tires, was worried that they wouldn't look that good, cuz I got an enthusiast. That car is awesome. I got a couple pics but they arent that good because there was too many people climbing in and out of the car.
