I hope they do. G is out technically, but will be fully released in April at NYIAS. Hopefully a Z, too.
I don't care about body style, but I was the 3.7L in a Z!!!! All new cars look like ****, IMO.

I REALLLLLLLY hope 08 gets the 3.7L. If it does, I'm getting one. If not, I wont.

Yes but the M is a 60 grand car. Different price range than the Z. And isnt it an 8 cylinder?

Thanks for the link. According to the article, the car does not feel faster than BMW 335, so that means it's probably still 14sec car. Overall it looks about the same, other than the front bumper, etc. Interior's not much change either.

The only thing that I am excited about is probably the 3.7L engine. It should be around 330hp, since the 3.2L BMW M3 engine was output that much already.

Can't wait for the new Z.

Great, just what Americans want: more displacement instead of better tuning for more power.
If you go up by .2L, then you should go up by 20hp. It's the rule and goal of supercar balance: 100hp/L or more. The upgrade to HR was the right direction to take. No displacement, better tuning... maybe (if it really is tuned better).
Original 350Z: 287hp/3.5L = 82hp/L
307hp/3.5L = 87.4hp/L
The suggestion for the next amount of horsepower is actually a downgrade:
312hp/3.7L = 84.32hp/L
A 3.7L should yield 370hp
To compete exactly with the BMW would be ok because it does better for hp/L
330hp/3.7L = 89.2hp/L

I've only read 330 figures so far, but nothing completely validated.

Also keep in mind the area under the curve is changed due to different valve technology, and it's more fuel efficient. So even at 312hp, it's faster with more mpg.

The 287hp rating is pre-SAE new standard. If the 2007 G35 coupe makes 275 hp(Auto) and 293hp (6mt), I can assume the new SAE standard for the older Z should be 282hp.
282/3.5 = 80.6 hp/L

So if you compare the new VQ37VHR of 330 hp, thats 89.2hp/L.

That's an improvement.

Why do you think it is a negative to have more displacement? This is completely backwards thinking. Extra displacement is GREAT for performance, especially since they say it has just as much refinement as the 3.5HR. And they didn't just up the displacement if you've ready anything about the engine. HP/L means NOTHING. Why would you even consider that a factor?

Cool Ease Up

Heaven help us that Nissan doesn't price the 350Z right out of the market like it did with the Z32. We had a tragic dry-spell in Z Cars because of that marketing decision to challenge the Corvette (the Z-car was better, but not the demographics)--and when it failed they simply discontinued the Z marque (okay, it was more complicated than that, but that's essentially what happened).

The Fairlady Z Version Nismo ($10K more than the standard 350Z with the same motor) is a scary reminder of what happened last decade. Most Z-heds are content to acquire a 350Z because it is a genuine GT sports car (not a pretender), it is a great value, and it is drop-dead gorgeous. We take great pride in being able to improve horsepower and suspension, add sexy body kits, and flash up the paint schemes on our own buck. That's fantastic! Because it lets legions of the rest of us revel in a show-room GT sports car for thousands of dollars less than the Porsches, Corvettes, BMWs, Bugattis, etc. (the Bugatti Veyron is God's way of telling you that you make WAY too much money and have no comprehension of reality in driving).

I've only had my 350Z up to 130mph at Texas Motor Speedway (there was a pace car in the way), and I'll probably never go that fast again, but DANG! What a car! Even at legal speeds, this is a great ride that everyone who slips behind the wheel should revel in.

Let's keep our desire for MORE in check. I'm having trouble hooking up 300 hp to do what I want it to do (I don't do street drags). The 350Z has saved my *** on several occasions when I got into turns too fast, and has brought me home several autocross trophies. Be cool.

Good Thread! First I really doubt Nissan will do the Price increase on the Z in the 90's. I think Nissan would still keep prices competitive and the GTR (skyline) will be the supercar for Nissan. I would like to see an increase in power but I still want the Z to be corning Beast not a Drag car! BTW Nissan, Mazda and Toyota all had crazy prices on their sports cars.

How about a 400z as the replacement for the 350z????

According to the general manager at my local dealership, that's what it is going to be. I didn't hear if it was an '08 or an '09, however. Basically going to be a tuned up version of the 4 liter in the current Pathfinder/X-terra. I don't know how true this is, but he seemed surprised that I didn't know this.

And always remember, the Z is built on a budget, it's not a cost-be-damned supercar. That does, to a certain, extent, limit the used of very advanced technology or exotic materials. On my Audi RS4, for example, the replacement cost for the engine alone is $24,000.

Harking back to the color speculation, I recall a very nice color that came on the 4th gen Supra called Anthracite - a very nice color that I would love to see updated via the next Z...
