I don't think so. A person going to buy an Infinity G35 won't be hindered at all by the introduction of the Altima. You should remember the person buying a G35 vs an Altima coupe equate to, two completley different people. One being a person looking for a luxury car while the other is looking for an affordable stylish coupe. Just my .02 cents.

For those that have seen it in person:
How does it compare in size to the 350z/g35? People mention it as a tC compeditor, but that would make me think it would be pretty small.

I think that it looks nice, and will def. be a good seller for Nissan. I don't think that it will be a competitor to the TC, since the TC is priced well under what I expect this car to start at. Also the TC does no offer a v6. I'll bet that this is aimed strait at the Pontiac G6 coupe, Accord, and Solara coupe. I also do not think that this car will canibalize sales of the G35 coupe... 2 different types of buyers.

Really, the final MSRP is going to determine the while market segment for this thing. Its almost nice enough to compete along side the Z and G35, Which would put it in the $30K (loaded) range. To be a TC Competitor, it needs to start well south of $20K and below the well Altima Sedan in pace. It would dominate that market segment.
The Whole 2+2 Thing makes it Super attractive to those of us with a small family.

Altima coupe
I was checking the Nissanusa.com website and they have the Altima Coupe headlining.
I checked out the interior pics and wonder oh why don't they update the Z's ineterior?

Not to say the Z and Altima are direct competitors but don't they know it might hurt the Z's sales in regards to the casual consumer? I know I know, the 4cyl will be the biggest seller but still...
(thanks for playing along and humoring the thread)

Looks nice, but I wouldn't really say its an upgrade from the Z aside from some steering wheel buttons I wouldn't care about.
Especially without the nav, and most of them won't have it.

ever see a ferarri or lambo interior? those are really lack luster but i never heard anyone complain about them. all i said was you want luxury, get a luxury car. with the Z, you get what you get, a sports car with out all the bells and whistles.
