I'd just mod the '06. It would be much cheaper ... you don't have to wait and you'd get more power for less $'s in the long run. Also consider increase in insurance and registration etc... with a new car.
At least, that is my thought process. I can't see spending all that money in a Z and not increasing it's value.

As for my 04.5 a LSD, Exhaust, Intake and suspension is all I need for the street. I took the extra money I saved not buying a G35 and bought this:

You might just buy a purpose built car if racing is your thing. It's all in what you want to do. There are much better race cars out there than a Z. If you break a Camaro, it's so much cheaper to rebuild it too. It doesn't have to be a drag car either. I well set up Camaro and compete well on a road course too. Now, if you just want a little more power for the street, remember there will always by someone out there with more and ticket will send you to jail etc... So, what's the point. Enjoy the ride. ;-)

P.S. Just rebuilt the 454 in the Camaro Dyno of 780HP at 650lbs torque. That's 130 more hp and 150lbs of torque. Can hardly wait to installed this weekend. Woot !!! Camaro's are so easy to work on.

Don't forget the first year a car comes out it will have a few issues... just like the 350s had the tranny and tire feathering in the 03 models. Then it all got sorted with the 05s being the most reliable, so If i was to buy the next gen Z and it came out in 09 i wouldnt by til 2011. So yeh I say stick with the 06

yeah thats what i was thinking bc there will always be someone thats gunna out mod you or just have an all around faster car but i was told that one of the goals for 09' is to make a lighter car and also that initial extra hp.....

i think it will be a whole nother mean.

i dunno i figure its kinda pointless but i would like to have the 09'.

Old magazines at the library is a good start if you want complete specs.

I've got to say that Z Driver just gave the single best advice I have read on this site ever. Someone actually receommending the use of a library! Good old fashioned research and reading FTW!

Keep your 06 and see what the new model has to bring. What if Nissan buttugly-fys it like they did the G37? For me, the cars aesthetics are vital even if it has gobs of power. Like jerry said, the first and possibly 2nd year model run is going to have some bugs, some of which may be insurmountable.

Its like computers and how they release something twice as powerful every year and a half: as soon as you buy the latest and greatest, they announce the next big thing and you are already yesterday's news... but if you keep waiting around and waiting around for that next power bump, you will NEVER buy anything. Enjoy what you have now!

Both! I'm going to do everything in my power to keep my 350 and buy a 370 when they come out. The 350 will easily be paid off by then, should work out.
