370z at Los Angeles Auto Show

Winding Road's man from Japan, Peter Nunn, supposedly has it on good authority that Nissan's new Z-car is headed to Los Angeles this November for its official unveiling. According to Nunn's source, the 370Z looks "fantastic," despite it being a more evolutionary design.
The really interesting tidbit from Nunn is that the new Z will be shorter than the outgoing model by around four inches. That might curtail speculation that the spy shots we've seen of a chopped 350Z was a new rear-wheel-drive model that could resurrect the Silvia nameplate. Too bad. But the 370Z will be sporting the 3.7-liter V6 found in the Infiniti G37 coupe, a slightly wider track and, hopefully, will shed a few pounds from the outgoing model.

If that is true then we should expect the new Z about 4-5 months later.
That seems to be the trend with Nissan lately. I'm pretty sure the new G35 sedan, G37 Coupe, and pretty soon the new Maxima will all have been released about 4-5 months before they become available.
Also that would make sense since that would put the new Z on our shores early springtime... 2009, which to me seems ideal for a sports car.

spring 09 as a 2010 would be the 40th anniversary. i think they might capitalize on the all new Z for the 40th

im sure there will be spy shots / leaked specs + photos a month or two before the paris auto show. pictures and specs always manage to find their way to the public.
personally i cannot wait to see the new Z. i find the current Z's design so flawless that it would be interesting to see how they can top it

Corvette lovers thought GM couldn't top the C5, but put it next to a C6 and it looks fat, round and bloated. Despite the Godzilla sized design disaster of the GTR and the bland G37, I'm betting Nissan's California design studio will again reinvent the Z. That's why the LA Auto show makes more sense. Screw Paris.

Good points.

Very true.
Ok so the LA auto show is the 21st - 30th of November. What DAY of the show do you think They'll unveil the new Z, the first, second.... ? I'm thinking about heading to LA and this makes a really good excuse.

You know, now that I think about it, this will help me decide whether I keep my '05 or buy a new one... the current body style will look good for a very long time, IMO. If they fu*k it up, I'm out nothing. And I've got UY, to boot.
