The New Z: An Alternate Design
Nice effort, I will spare critique of the art itself, but as for the design, it has potential if it were tightened technically a bit.
If you are serious, I would recommend sketching out the design elements on paper from all angles before entering into a "polished art" phase.

The Tiburon comment I think is true once I think about it, thanks for letting me know. I'll see what I can do to change it to look better.
Thanks for discussing the art style ctzn, overall this was my first project and I agree that I have a long way to go.
Thanks again to everyone for the feedback.
I think the front end looks too busy. One thing about the current Z is the large front grill area. It plays a big role in the car's aggressive appearance. Breaking it up into three sections removes that impact. This is why I don't like the current pictures with the fangs/tusks.
I think the sides, hood and to some extent the rear are the areas the designers should have focused on evolving the next generation's appearance. The car is small and adding too many breaks in the body's lines will disrupt its overall appearance. The current pictures on the Net showing the indented sides are not bad and I actually think it's a step forward. I think they need to be careful with the rear not to make it look too chopped off like the Chrysler Crossfire does. It harkens back to the days of the AMC Gremlin (icky).
The hood should not have a hump. There's no functional or visual reason for it. But if they gave the hood the same treatment they gave to the new Maxima and integrated it into the Z's frontend, I think that might work. Personally, I like the model I have with the two grooves forming a "V" shape.
They should definitely abandon the stupid "C" shaped headlights (and tail lights) before they start losing market share which I'm willing to bet they will if they persist. They have a winning design now...they need to be careful with it. I don't know how many people who currently own a Z are planning on upgrading but if they are like me and there are many of them, Nissan is playing with fire if the current "apparent" design goes into production.

Pretty good. I can't wait to see how you alter the grill/front end. Maybe no amber strip by the front fender. Maybe a second layer over lapping on the hood to clear the engine. How's the rear end looking?

That looks very good, Scrapser has a good point, the sides on the z33 are pretty dull and you've made an improvement I think there. The front can look a bit more clean in terms of what others have said but generally excellent.... BlueZ Brother for President

I think it looks good and a step in the right direction.
The overall modern look is good.
The front does look too much like an Aston Martin and less like a Z. Personally, I would vote for a hybrid headlight of the Z>-R -- sharper edges, less round and soft.
The rear seems too sharp -- too much like a 240z with aftermarket bumper... The 240z is a nice car for it's time, but I like the 350z theme much better: round, wide, low.
With that in mind, I think the 5-spoke wheels are too sharp/flat. I think it would look cool with the Z's rounder 5-spoke, which has that aggressive, concave/spider-leg look to it.
The Z logo looks too much like Zorro. haha j/k
Personal request: would be cool if you could take the shape of the 350z, make it a little wider and lower, with sharper lines outlining its shape. I would do it myself but don't have the patient

if Nissan had listened to their fan/current customers, I don't think we would see those damn boomerangs. Makes me mad every time I think of those
Good work, Brian. My immediate reaction too, was that it looks too much like a Aston. But I see the Z/GT-R design cues so this is definitely a step in the right direction and a very good first take indeed. Keep it up!
