Thanks again to everybody for the outstanding feedback, your advice is making this project much easier.

I understand what everyone's saying about the DB7 and RX-8 front end. Now that I look at it, the fins are extremely fugly...I wonder why I didn't see that before! The new design I'm working with has a single opening in the front with two smaller air outlets just in front of the front wheel wells, a la Amuse.

ufraag, if the boomerang theme is actually pretty popular I'm more than willing to alter the design to incorporate them. It's just that those who dislike the new looks have been more vocal in expressing their opinions, and looking at the new design I kind of agree with them. But once again, the design isn't final and can still be revised.

I remember several expressed a concern about the hood design, and one quote about the hood bump being unnecessary. I've revised the hood design to look like the one from the 03-06 Zs, with the hood indentations that most people seemed to like. However, I think the taller VQ37 (if that model is indeed used) might pose a problem fitting in the engine bay without the added hood clearance of a hood bump. That is, unless it sat lower in the engine bay or was re-engineered to have the cylinders angled flatter to make the overall engine design shorter. If the latter were to be incorporated, I imagine Tenac1ousZ's suggestion to make the car sit lower and wider would extend the engine bay's dimensions enough to make such a solution possible.

Also, responding to several other comments, I'm aware that Nissan owns all rights to the new Z and so whatever they decide will be the next car will be the next car, whether anyone likes it or not. I'm just offering up a design suggestion and if they incorporate it, that'd be AWESOME. If not, meh, I'll get on with life and just slap a Turbonetics kit in my 350Z to keep up with the new one.

I haven't gotten started on the rear as I'm still revising the front, but I'm definitely looking to the GTR for reference.

I promise to post a revised design by tonight.

^^^ Yeah, I've gotten some feedback about the front end being way too DB7-like...never thought to compare it to a Cayenne though! I'd better fix that tonight.

I try to make it seem more by complaining in every post I make

Beautiful car and looks so much like a Z

Here's Take Two. I tried to incorporate all the advice that the Woodland Dwarves and Flaming Mountain Trolls in Fantasy Land gave me.

I changed the front to look a little less busy and avoid the "DB7/RX-8/Tiburon threesome bastard child" look, altered the front fenders around a little, and revised the hood to have the indents from '03 to '06. Lines are still kinda bad...I'll probably vector the next one in Flash to clean it up a little.

Now it looks like a Ferrari 430. Not hating, I like it! But Ferrari owners will throw a fit if it comes out like that!

So far you are on the right track. We need to find a way to get you in contact with Nissan and pitch your ideas! These are much nicer than the renderings I have seen so far.

Much improved, but it could use some flare out over the wheels. The current design has this done just right, IMO.

Thanks 06dieselZ and fallenromeo. Although no matter how I sketched it out it just ended up looking like one car after another...I'm stumped

I like the fender flares too zeemonic, but I'm not so sure they'd flow on this design. If you mean "current" as in the current 350Z or the renderings we've seen so far, then yes they do look a lot better on those designs. I might experiment with that though.

Thanks NismoZ350 and stepuckey, I think the other hood with the bump might work as well.

I think I'm going to have to start working on the rear end already. I was thinking something G35 or GTR-ish.

That would be nice at least we can dream. Good looking out. That would make a outstanding 370Z.

Original car design not biting off other cars out there is tricky. Thats why people get paid big money to design cars. Even though they still wind up biting off others. LOL.
BlueZ your current drawing is quite attractive though a touch to Ferrari, don't get me wrong I love Ferrari's. Though I do know Nissan would never let that get out there doors looking that way. Look back to the Original S30 for inspiration in the front. Bring back the hood bulge because not only is it heritage wise correct but its needed with the VQ37, in a Z. Overall not bad, a lot better than a lot of the Japanese renderings.

Much better on this 2nd try. You have a good imagination. Like everything except for that hip line. Looks too much like an Eclipse or Tiburon.
