Just got the latest copy of Car & Driver the 370Z is mentioned. It shows a version of the Orange tint 370z with the fangs that some of you guys hated.
It seems that this will be the new 2010 370Z that will be available mid 2009, I've always liked this look minus the fangs and the headlights but performance numbers looks good C&D mentioned a 330hp V6 and 3010lb vehicle stating that the Z should be a rocket, it didn't talk about any suspension upgrade nor did it show the interior most of all it just mentioned that the new Z would be a sub 5 second car 0-60. I'm thinking 4.7 or 4.5 0-60 time making it as fast as a C5 corvette and faster then a stock EVo or STi.

Sound all good to me, I'd like to see the interior and can't wait to test drive the car and run through the gears if its close to S2000s or Z32 smooth shifting that would be an upgrade.

Anyway I'm thinking 370Z sounds like more Me, I want have to sell my 1st born son and two of his goats to buy as would be the case buying the GTR.
I'd settle for a upgraded Z-car rather then a SUPER CAR, man I want the GTR but logic pervails.

 

First thing one of the guys at work did this morning was drop the new C&D in front of me, and when I saw that I have to say it doesnt seem as bad as I thought it would be. (new stang on the cover looks strange) But I may just stop modding my Z all together and wait on this new bad boy to come up! 3.7L v6 and 330hp? Good thing my loan is going to be in the black by the time it comes to trade in this 06

Not too sure about the price tag being over 35k however... one of the attractive parts of the current gen was the sub 30k pricetag. They might price themselves out of some of the current market that they enjoy with a price point that high.

 

Nice info but being realistic here 0-60 means squat. 330-350hp is not going to make the Z as fast as a regular C5 especially up top. In the twisties you never know but Ill wait to see actual test before we start bench racing against other cars.

It is of note though that one of the other mags says that the new Z is aimed at the Cayman S and Vette amoung others. We will see. If the GTR is any indication of Nissans commitment to upsetting the scales on the exotic level on can only hope they are going after the lower eschelon sportscars with the new Z. Or maybe its just wishful thinking on my part.

The fat girl will loose 200 pounds, add 45 hp and have a wider track, along with being a little shorter. She sounds like someone I would love to be inside of for a few hours at a time.

Performance wise its the ugly duckling turning into the swan. If the Evo running 4.9 can run with C5 the new 370Z will too. Of course you mentioned top end its hard beat a V8 not EVEN the GTR can match the Z06 V8 in the Quarter but its even money 0-60, 0-80 between 95-120mph the V8 romps.

Might be the case with 370Z, Evo and the C5, boy its nice to able to walk the walk and talk the talk with these speed icons. Talk sh%% now!!!

I hear what you are saying. Right now the HR Z's are more than a match for the EVO/STI up top so the new Z should run away from them no problem. However you are spot on about the Vette. It traps between 113-115mph in the 1/4. Way faster than either the EVO/STI will be capable of running stock to stock. For the money the new Z should be the car to beat in that 40k and under catagory.

As a side note Im thinking the new Z should be around 12.7-13.0 @ 108-110mph. The Crossfire SRT6 did those numbers if I recall with less power and more weight though it had more torque. Bench racing I know, but I really believe it will be in that neighborhood. With bolt-ons and cams it may have the potential to run with the regular Vette all motor in the 1/4. Cant wait to se the hard numbers on the new Z. I hope they reintroduce Daytona Blue as its my fav color.

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see some 370's top 110 mph in the quarter. My Z weighed in at 3070 at the track and ran 112 mph with 295+ rwhp which I would assume the 370Z will be able to match power wise. I can't wait to see what they can actually do.

^ You beat me to it. Also, why could Nissan not just do the fangs like the Nismo Z? Maybe it will look just like the above pic, minus the middle 'fangs' and body colored.....

 

You know its not quite as bad as it looked in the concept pictures i've seen.... i still don't like the new hoods....

 

I don't care if it has fangs or not. It has not changed much and changed only to be worse. I hate the ratio of length vs. width. It is like cartoon.

Road and Track just came out and stated that the car will have 350hp which would it be 330 or 350hp either way thats quite a upgrade. You have to admitt that Nissan has been polishing this baby ever since it came out make it a little better (although sometime taking real short baby steps) every year. Say compared to the RX-8 or the Boxster thats been the same from 04-07.

The 370Z sounds like a pocket rocket I'd like to see more then side views R&T showed a version without the chrome door handles, which do you prefer?
