I'm really starting to like it. At first, I didn't care for it, but the longer I look at it, the more I see similarities to the 350. I think the rear of the car is a lot better than the 350, the only thing I don't like are the fangs on the front of the car, other than that If I was looking for one, I'd buy it. Good timings, I'm about to finish paying the car of, but I'll probaly wait till 2nd year production.
I think they took most of the length from behind the seats between the B-pillar and the wheels...and from the pics, some from the back end. I would bet that there is little effect on leg room.
the emperor: your not the only one that thinks it looks pretty wierd. What you have to understand is that its a new car and people will jump on the bandwagon. I'm not bias because i have a 350z because i would give my honest opinion. The interior is really nice upgrade from the 350. The rear hatch on the 370 is horrible looking it is raised so high and makes the rear look funky. I do like the bigger wheel arches but hate the huge flat area right above the rear wheel arch. The headlight are a no go for me. The front might be okay but the rear lights look like bananas. I'm sure the performance won't upset and that is what i like the most about the car. From certain angles the 370z looks decent from other angles like the front angle and other certain angles it looks really wierd. Just look at where the front bumper meets the hood it does not look normal at all.
Anyway...did some late night photo editing to see what this thing could look like. Had to make the wheels bigger. These new fenders absolutely need them.
The rear just looks horrible. The front of the car looks like a 350z but the rear looks like they stuck a station wagon rear end on it, ughhhhh. I can't wait for this to get at the dealership so i can see one in person because these pics dont do it for me. I'm telling you the 350z is going to be the better looker while the 370 will be the better performer.
Here's a few more 'real' non-chopped pics without the duct tape.
This one looks like the GT model (has Rays, Brembos, and rear spoiler).
I'm not a fan... Wish they would have made it sleeker. Instead they went the opposite direction.

Has side by side comparison of 350Z to the 370Z. Nice. I think it looks better than the 350Z. More 240Z lile.

The 350 looks, well, like a sports car; the 370 from the side looks like a Dodge Magnum scrunched-up form the rear with a little elevation towards the front of the roof.
It almost looks like some sort of cross-over wagon/sports coupe.
Fugly.

Those are photoshops of the spy shots...they just removed the tape and added the 18/19 wheels from 06-08.
I have to agree with the past few threads on the impression the 370 has given me. By making the car smaller and trying to keep the same body shape theme, Nissan has painted themselves into a corner in terms of aesthetics.
The car looks like they took a 350Z and put it in a vise. It's a essentially a 350Z dwarf! The 350Z is longer and the design was developed based on those dimensions. It was not a "next generation" project where the designer was constrained with keeping the car evolutionary. It was brand new right from the start.
But the 370Z is the exact opposite. The short wheelbase limits how much you can do with the shape. The blunt nose and optical illusion that the hood is high off the ground comes from physical limitations. You can only go so low (hood/engine) and so far back (nose/wheel assembly). What's left? Go wider. Hence the big fender flares (and unfortunately the associated flat areas).
Big mistakes: Wheels/tires should be 9" front/10" rear with 19" rims minimum for fenders that big. Headlights and tail lights have no synchronicity with the rest of the car. I think Nissan came up with those shapes just to be different from everyone else. They do nothing to enhance the car. The front intake is visually just a bit too small and the fangs not only make the intake area look even smaller, they look like something that was just tacked on for appearance sake.
They should have made the 370Z revolutionary...not evolutionary. Where do they go from here? I think they will be forced to come up with a completely new design in the next generation. The new 370Z looks choked.
