Do you like the 370Z Now?
#62
I voted NO:
370Z looks like the ugly child of an M Coupé, a Miata, and an Audi TT. (Yes, in this case it takes 3 cars to make a baby car)
I honestly can't imagine how they could have designed it worse.

I love it.
1. Interior ROCKS.
2.Body is Rockin'.
3.Bigger engine.
It isn't absolutely how I would like it, but I think it is still a great looking car. Plus it may still look a little different once it gets on the road. I am definitely looking to buy one.

You know what I vote no because all though its a beautiful car it lacks the race car/ sports car look that NISSAN has made its name in making. It actually looks like they should have changed the badge to infiniti. I think the whole car should have been revamped think about it and don't just conform and think its the next big thing. The body is not all that different from the 350z, the lights are ok but it really just looks like the designer hacked away at the 350's lights lol. The wheels are extremely funky looking as well as the tail lights. Plus sure the body is lighter, but remember your running a bigger engine. Also regarding the engine for a 3.7 liter engine im extremely disappointed with the rumored 330-350 hp i mean with 3.7 liters you can pump out so much more. I mean and the increased price plus the whole charge over sticker for supply and demand forget that! I rather by a 03-06 VQ35de format and by an injen intake $290 , jic magic single canister exhaust $799, plenum spacer $210, a cobb tuning access port for tuning and a re flash $680, throw in some good shocks and springs or coil overs with sticky tires and ill take on a 370z any day.

about your quote on "90 persent of all ahters are jealous" i guess sometimus that is true but im not jealous about the 370
i honestly dont like it because of the rear hatch, the curves remind me of the older datsun like 240 or 280. Its just like that except more modernized. Also the fender wow that thing is so big and the tires is so tucked in, i cant imagine how much offset and stretch you need to bring them out lol

I voted no because there is no confirmed weight reduction. Nissan mentions "lightweight parts" but not a reduced overall weight. I'll believe it when I see it on an independent scale.
As far as the engine having more power, I have been underwhelmed by the dynos for the G37, although it gets good gains with mods. It nearly matches 350s acceleration times, but just because of gearing. But with only ~25 more HP and less torque to the wheels than the HR Z, I'll be surprised if it's significantly faster. If it is faster, I would suspect gearing changes make the majority of the difference. I hope I'm wrong
For the Z to be significantly better, it needs it's own platform and not a slightly modified, shared platform. Time will tell though.
Oh, and the exterior and interior lines are not as simple and pleasing to the eye as the Z33. It's more on the busy side. Too busy for my personal taste. I don;t like the 280zx-looking hatch and that rear quarter-panel is HUGE so they gave the fenders an equally huge vertical flat edge to try to break it ut a bit - like they do with their other econo-cars. And for those that say I'll get used to the interior - I think not. I still MUCH prefer the E46 M3 interior to the E92 M3's.
Check back in 6 months and I may change my tune about the 370 if it turns out to be a brawler. Of if they release a v-8 version with AWD.
Nissan is better at merketing than they are at engineering - R35 GTR excluded, but I am sure they are losing money on that car. The 370Z will be built to be a money-maker, not an envelope breaker.
I actually think the rev-matching manual sounds awesome. I'd love to try it. Who's good at or enjoys heel-toe shifting?
